I know it's worrisome. But I find it more worrisome that Vulture and EOnline stopped recapping New Girl. The way I see it with ratings; the ones they renewed are not any better than NG, and they are newcomers. If you have something good-stable already you wouldn't risk it IMO. NG has a steady viewership. On the other hand, the media coverage and social media awareness have gotten weaker. The most important call about renewal is up to showrunners IMO. If the showrunners didn't plan this as a final season I am sure they will get a new season. That's the most important call about NG renewal. It's obvious to me that this cannot be the last season. And Season 5 proved that the show does even better with mid-season scheduling, with fewer hiatuses. So network might still give the green light for mid-season Season 7.
