About the show

Since its premiere, the series has remained popular. In its first season, the show became the sixth highest-rated scripted show in America among adults between the ages of 18 and 49, and the third-highest rated new show. Aided by winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series, the show's second season became the highest rated show on Wednesday on premiere week and also rose 34% from the previous season among adults between the ages of 18 and 49. The show frequently ranked as television's top scripted series in adults 18–49 as well. The success of the show has been positively compared to The Cosby Show. During the 2010–2011 season, Modern Family was the highest rated scripted show in the 18–49 demographic, and the third highest rated overall sitcom behind CBS's The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men. The season also ranked first among DVR viewers. The third season premiere became ABC's top-rated season premiere in six years. The series success in ratings has also led to the series being credited for reviving sitcoms.

ABC finished a strong second on Wednesday in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 (pacing within 1-tenth of a rating point for the lead), while ranking #1 on the evening with Adults 18-34 and key Women (W18-34/W18-49). For its 3rd straight telecast this season, ABC’s Modern Family stood as Wednesday’s # 1 TV show in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49.

Shooting to the top of its 9pm slot in viewers and young adults, ABC’s Modern Family beat out runner-up CBS’ Criminal Minds by 53% in Adults 18-49. Modern Family saw its overall audience grow from the previous week, also increasing with Adults 25-54 (+2%), Teens 12-17 (+18%) and Kids 2-11 (+25%).

I have to say I'm REALLY liking this season, I feel like it got to a much stronger start than season 3. I hope it keeps up this pace

Oh i feel that way too! Even with slightly weaker episodes, still very great writing, so there's lots of good to draw from each.
