Lucrezia Borgia

Lucrezia Borgia was born at Subiaco on April 18th, 1480. Her mother was Vanozza dei Cattanei and her father Rodrigo Borgia, who was later known as Pope Alexander VI. She was married three times for her family's political advantage and had eight children. As Duchess of Ferrara, Lucrezia became a patron of the arts and an entrepreneur. She bought around 20,000ha of seemingly worthless swampland which she had drained and had henceforth used to grow grain, beans and flax. It is often suggested that Lucrezia and her brother Cesare may have had an incestuous relationship. Lucrezia died aged 39 in Ferrara on 24 June 1519 from complications after giving birth to a daughter. She was buried in the convent of Corpus Domini.

Sarah Bradford (2004), Monica Bellonci (2002) and Ferdinand Gregorovius (1875) have written the most popular biographies on Lucrezia Borgia. She also inspired many novels and was portrayed in many movies and television series based on her family's rise and fall. For instance most recently:

The Borgias (TV, 2011) played by Holliday Grainger
Borgia (TV, 2011) played by Isolda Dychauk
Los Borgia (Movie, 2006) played by Maria Valverde
The Borgias (TV, 1981) played by Anne Louise Lambert

Holliday Grainger

Holliday Grainger (born in 1988 in Didsbury, near Manchester) is an English actress primarily active in television. In May 2010, Grainger was named one of the 55 faces of the future in Nylon magazine's Young Hollywood Issue. In 2011, Grainger became a series regular on the Showtime television series "The Borgias", portraying Lucrezia Borgia. Lately, she also appeared in several films – "Jane Eyre" (2011), playing one of the Rivers sisters opposite Mia Wasikowska and Michael Fassbender, and "Bel Ami" (2011), alongside Christina Ricci and Uma Thurman. In June 2011, Grainger was cast as Estella in Mike Newell's film adaptation of "Great Expectations", opposite Jeremy Irvine and Helena Bonham Carter. She also has a small part in a 2012 screen adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's "Anna Karenina" starring Jude Law and Kiera Knightly.

Holliday Grainger: For me, acting as a child was just a good experience. I became independent at quite a young age because from the age of 16 my mum was, like, “I’m not chaperoning you any more,” so I was off getting trains and staying in hotels and learning how to deal with the business. I didn’t rebel as a teenager and I think that’s probably why – because I didn’t really have anything to rebel against. I already had my own life outside school as well.

Do people say that I am both your f a t h e r and your l o v e r? Let the world, that heap of vermin as r i d i c u l o u s as they are feeble-minded, believe the most a b s u r d t a l e s about the mighty! You must know that for those destined to dominate others, the ordinary rules of life are turned upside down and duty acquires an entirely new meaning. G o o d and e v i l are carried off to a higher, different plane… .
Remember this. Walk straight ahead. Do only what you like, as long as it is of some use to you. Leave hesitation and scruples to small minds, to plebeians and subordinates. One consideration alone is worthy of you—the elevation of the House of B o r g i a, the elevation of yoursel

Yes, thanks God it never happened in the show! Maybe it isn't even true what people say, they say a lot of things for CdM too but those are just rumors I would never believe in..

So what was it that you guys said about her new movie? It hasn't aired yet, right?

Me too, but I think she would've been better in the leading role.

If you're asking about Lady Chatterley's Lover I'm confused by when or if it's aired yet
I think it might be mini series since I see updated FarFarAwaySite pics posted daily on TW which might mean it's more than just movie? But not entirely sure sorry
May might know more about this than I do

OMG, so true. When I watched Cinderella on the theater, and saw Holliday I thought, this girl is perfect for the leading role, why on earth didn't they cast her as Ella?

Much later, I watched The Borgias for the first time, and I realized Lucrezia Borgia was the same actress who played Cinderella's sister, our Holliday.

I think Lady Chatterley's lover is a movie , the co-stars are Richard Madden and, James Norton and was released on Sunday 6th sept on BBC one.
(Basically it's prince Charming cheating on cinderella with her sister Anastasia, hahaha)
