I wonder if they did horrid highlights in his hair as a way to show different times in the movie  Cause I know it takes place during 70's and then during 90's?(not sure might be 80's) But I guess we won't know till it airs.

But yeah don't know what they were thinking highlighting his hair really badly since his natural hair is so nice.

Agreed! Looks particularly bad in this pic. I just focus on his other attributes and my mind fills in his normal, gloriously thick, dark hair. Not certain why they felt they had to do this. I know the character is supposed to be from the Midwest, but there are lots of dark-haired men in the Midwest. Maybe the blonde hair is cultural shorthand for American or English speaker.

Kim  glad to see you around :) hope you're doing ok!

Yeah that hair is horrible but the body :sigh:

I'll take the full package. :P

Ok, just upping this because I can't stand for it to be on the second page. So, what is with Francois' marketing/pr. I mean I like that he takes meaty, indie-type roles, but WTF.

DGSAFDMD 02-06-2014 04:35 PM

I know, I think actors can take the chance to do indie projects and more popular projects too, there are some hollywood movies that are well written and stuff

So I take it you agree with this post then, old pic but valid post about agent.

Just a friendly reminder that Francois Arnaud exists. He is real.
And if his agent refuses to get him the work he deserves, he is welcome to apply to be any of the following, to me:
•live-in sober (or drunk) companion;
•best friend (who I would try, good-naturedly of course, to have sex with at every opportunity)
•husband (naturally)
• roommate (there’s room)
• brunch buddy (who doesn’t like brunch?)
•squash partner (I could take up squash—there’s a racket involved, right?)
• adviser (advise me to procrastinate less, I will advise you to take your shirt off more)
•hitman (you can use a garrote)
• commander of any army I can scrounge up (let’s take back Italy!)
•incestuous brother type (self-explanatory)
• de-coder (reader of mirror writing, if and when that comes up)
I miss The Borgias.

Yeah, kinda. I mean I certainly don't pretend to understand the movie industry, but I thought he would be more of a name by now. We can't all be wrong about his appeal

I have been wondering lately if perhaps I see something in him that just isn't there. Is an agent in charge of an actor`s PR? Not sure about that, but if so he needs a change, at least in the US (even if he is still feeling guilty about wrecking her bathroom). He needs to get his face out more. Not showing up at Sundance because he is working in Europe is one thing, not going to the festival in Venice while he is working over there on Thursday is another. His GF did the red carpet in Venice with Joseph Gordon Levitt, who I`m sure everybody knows is really hot right now, and I think will be for a long time, because he is multi-talented. Perhaps Francois worked his magic behind the scenes, who knows, but that's the problem exactly. You can`t keep a low profile while trying to get your face known. I also think that at this stage in his career it`s not smart to shun social media. He needs a real Facebook page, and a twitter account, even if he hates it, and he needs to run it smartly to network. Laying low is for Tom Cruise.

I have asked myself that question several times. Some actors are so wasted... not sure if that's the actor's fault or the agent's... I remember Olivia Colman wasn't really anyone until a few years ago, she got some great roles and she thanked her agency when she won two baftas the same night and told them she was "never leaving" so I guess they do get the roles for them but not sure about publicity and public appearances.

BL.Arinna_1982 02-11-2014 12:51 AM

He sure needs some big roles.

I wonder how much control Francois has over this stuff. I remember him saying in some interview that his goal was to be able to choose what projects he was in, so I think a lot of control still rests with the agent.

If this is true, then there's a lot of us who are right there with you, and I don't think so many people could be wrong.

Was so surprised when there were no pictures after Venice.

Absolutely! I think in the movie industry, you have to grab the gusto while you can. Just not sure the mysterious thing works so much anymore. People tend to have short memories, so if you don't keep your name and face in front of them, they will forget about you.

Sadly, professional life is rarely just about how good you are, but who you know. In some professions you have hit more parties than your liver and nerves can probably stand. The more social and outgoing you are, the more people you know, the more success you will have. This includes the internet now, and is true not just for actors, but for almost everyone. I agree that some actors are wasted, but for every one of those there is another one who does the job just as well, and who perhaps might have done more to get it. What`s driving me nuts is when I see professionally incompetent people succeed just because they know how to play the game. The best doesn`t always win.

That is so true. I can think of 5 actors right off the top of my head that have absolutely no range and couldn't act their way out of a paper bag, but they get work because they have a six pack (and presumably know how to play the game). Francois is talented, classy, and intelligent. He should be in a meaty, high profile role by now. I'm hoping that Thursday ends up being a momentum builder.
