I see Merlin was described as childish in an earlier post here. I don't think it's childish and I'm probably older than everybody else here (born 1976). It's not a very intelligent show, but I don't think it's especially childish. It is designed to take in children as an audience, but it's designed for adult appreciation too.

That is true. It has fantastic actors, and there are a few scenes in particular that were exceptional, and not lacking some dark shades. (Merlin poisoning Morgana, broken Uther etc)

Yep. It definitely has the potential of becoming much more mature, it's just the time-zone/general concept that can't allow it.
If it was darker maybe we'd get some Merlin/Morgana. __________________
