Yeah, the lighting was wonky in that scene. Throw in the fact that he was dressed in dirty rags, and the man could definitely use a bath!

I've seen the same speculation, but yeah, I just don't buy it. Though George did leave himself a small window, if he ever wants to bring Syrio back...I think he's gone for good.
