Kate's ex from when she was 16. I think it was brought up in Apologize or one of the short stories off of there. They were discussing Kate and Rick or something along those lines and Johanna brought up Tyler, it might've been the Like Mother, Like Daughter series because Kate stated one of her first cases as an officer was responding to him being shot because his girlfriend caught him cheating which I'm guessing he did to her.
