Argh, G/M bonding in District 12 would have been a great subplot for the movie, IMO. So many lost opportunities.

Yeah if they wanted to give Gale more screen time and a romance for Gale, this would have been perfect. Show us some scenes back home of district 12 people watching Katniss including Gale and Madge, and they would look to each other for comfort and talking, etc.

missed opportunities indeed.

I thought for sure there would be something between them since the strawberries in the first book. I was waiting for them to happen, and I thought it was reaffirmed with Madge bringing him medicine in CF, but nothing ever happened. :/

I think she could have joined, too. It would have been nice for Katniss to see another familiar face. I always thought there would be something more to Madge - just the way how she really insisted on Katniss having her pin...it seemed like she knew more than Katniss. I guess for Madge it was just a symbol of courage because of what her aunt went through and she thought Katniss as a really brave person, too. It was still really nice of her.

I'm sure Madge knew something about it, being the mayor's daughter and everything. I think her family knew something about it and that is probably why it lead to them getting killed

I just thought Snow felt that D12 was so beneath him, he didn't care if he killed everyone.

That could be true too as Snow probably didn't like any of the districts at all.
