I don't see it happening either. He seems to focus more on the Haymitch/Effie relationship.

I mean I do find the HE friendship hilarious, but nothing to the point I see them pursing a relationship.

But personally I don't think Haymitch ever pursed a long term romantic relationship after the 2nd QQ/death of his family.

Probably not. He was too drunk and upset to ever start up a relationship.

he was probably afraid if he ever did start one. Snow would kill them or use them as leverage.

I did read a fic, where Maysilee and her sister switch places in the games (so it was the sister who died), and Haymitch was the father of Madge. But Maysilee married the mayor to keep that a secret.

Not really.
I mean on some level they were friends. Because HM were kind of dating before the 2nd QQ.
