15 years had passed since I last saw him, and even more years since we had spoken. Yet here I was. In my car, across from his house. Of course he had the most beautiful house on the street. I glance down at the stereo. It’s 4 in the morning. I don’t know what I’m doing. I swipe away my tears and exit the car. A cold draft hits my body but I barely feel it. I lean against my car as I stare at his house. The lights are off. I suppose everyone is asleep at this hour. The house is surrounded by a white picket fence, with a dainty little gate; assortments of flowers skirt either side of the gorgeous paved footpath. I spot two massive beautifully crafted oak doors led by a half a dozen or so steps. The spell breaks and I’m no longer enamoured by his house. The tears have started again. Why am I here? Tyler. Cheating bastard. ****. Stop. Before I can contemplate what I’m doing, I’ve already done the deed. A short rapid knock echoes. It feels like an eternity has passed. My stomach has flipped and is being stirred by the thousands of butterflies that are currently vacating in me. I’m about to run. This is stupid, reckless, my erratic behaviour showing, heightened. The door opens smoothly…not a strand of hair on his head has changed, in fact nothing appears different, yet as I stand here, everything has changed.
