Who cares if Damon whether or not Damon is a better man or not.. Why does that even matter to Elena? Sure, she is his friend.. but you cant dictate how someone goes about their life.

And Damon should want to be better because of HIMSELF and not because of he might get something out of it.

Why is Damon being more vocal about his feelings? What is it gonna achieve? Nothing. Elena love Stefan. End of story.

personally, I just don't see any reasonable excuse for all the stuff he's done. All the stuff he's done is particularly wrong in my opinion. from the whole killing jeremy to can't handle his feelings and use someone for distractions. Seriously Damon? does he think he can always get something in return for every damn good thing he does?

to me, it seems like every good thing he does, there is always some excuse and its easily forgiven.

Seriously, Bonnie is putting her life in danger to protect Elena and does she ask for something other than her friendship in return? No, because she is a real friend.

I hope they disagree because Stefan wants to kick Damon's ass and Elena doesn't want them to fight and NOT because Elena tries to excuse Damon's actions.
