Stefan Salvatore Spoilers & Speculation #28: We can't think of a title. We're too busy being spoiled.

Welcome to the 27th Stefan Salvatore Spoilers & Speculation thread

Episode Descriptions:

{March 15th} 3x16 "1912"

THE MURDER MYSTERY DEEPENS — The present-day murders in Mystic Falls remind Damon (Ian Somerhalder) of a similar crime spree a century earlier. In flashbacks to 1912, Damon recalls a beautiful vampire, Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman), who showed him a whole new way to exist. Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) warns Damon not to get involved in her investigation, but Damon is convinced she’s going after the wrong suspect. Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Matt (Zach Roerig) resort to breaking and entering in their search for evidence to prove Dr. Fell (guest star Torrey Devitto) is a murderer. For reasons known only to her, Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt), becomes interested in locating one of the town’s oldest landmarks. Finally, Elena comes to a new understanding of the path her life has taken, and Damon makes an emotional confession to Stefan (Paul Wesley).

{March 22nd} 3x17 "Family Histories"
FAMILY HISTORIES — A century after their first encounter, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Sage (guest star Cassidy Freeman) meet again at the ceremony to kick-off the restoration of Wickery Bridge. Damon is surprised to learn the reason Sage has returned, and pleased when she devises an unusual method to help him figure out what Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) is up to. Abby (guest star Persia White) is having a hard time adjusting to her new reality, despite Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Caroline’s (Candice Accola) efforts to help. When Damon informs Elena (Nina Dobrev) of Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) latest struggles, she reaches out to Stefan to help her save a friend in danger, in hopes that it will help bring Stefan even closer to his humanity. Finally, when Damon discovers a new secret weapon, he lets Stefan in on the news.

It certainly does annoy me that Damon is using that sort of technique with Stefan.. because let's face it.. Stefan is NOT like Damon at all (thank the gods )... but I can understand his approach.. it's not Damon being mean or getting off on it.. but I genuinely think he wants to help Stefan I doubt Damon is going to let Elena believe that it's Stefan's fault and I really would like to believe that Elena would confront Stefan about it before she makes a rash assumption about what she saw

All in all.. I am actually really looking forward to this episode... the past few weeks have gotten me so worked up.. but I am pretty positive that nothing can get in the way of SE's love I am feeling good for once

Yeah, I agree that Damon thinks he's doing Stefan a favor. He's always felt that Stefan's animal blood diet wasn't beneficial, and that he'd be better off drinking from humans. Damon doesn't see it as wrong, because he doesn't understand Stefan's(or Elena's, for that matter) point of view that using people is wrong--whether they survive or not. I really hope that Damon's emotional confession has to do with him realizing this, especially if I'm right about Damon pushing Stefan towards being a ripper again in the 1912 flashbacks. Damon accepting responsibility for the things he's done to Stefan would, IMO, do more for his redemption than any of his so-called 'heroics' have.

I was just really dissapointed that Elena had no idea bout Damon's approach to 'helping' Stefan back during 3x08, because I'm positive she would never approve of it. If Damon lets her go an entire week thinking he had nothing to do with it, I will be seriously angry with him.

I'm really feeling positive about the rest of the season, too. Yes, we're probably going to see some struggles between the two of them. We're going to see Elena having doubts, and Stefan having doubts, and Elena trying to reach him, and Stefan wanting to comfort her but not knowing if he should--and impulsive kisses and pushing away, and heartfelt confessions and emotional breakdowns and everything that makes us just FEEL for them. At this point, I say bring on the sad moments too, because, at long last, the show's emotional core takes center-stage again.

The fact they are having these struggles and it's not easy for them will be good in the long run. Because the real relationships go through this stuff, and that's what makes relationships work.

I usually have so much faith but lately I'm not sure how the season is gonna end. I keep changing my mind. One day I think SE will reunite and the other I start analyzing what the cast and Julie have said and I start thinking Elena will end up alone.

Nah, I don't think so. At worst, they'll probably do like Roswell and give us an implied reunion in the finale, leaving the 'getting back together as a couple' stuff for the season 4 premiere.

But I'm almost certain we're going to get a kiss before the end of the season. Maybe several. I would seriously be surprised if Elena ended up rejecting him after an entire season of trying to get him back--it would just be too anticlimatic, not to mention cold of her.

How was it implied on Roswell?

I do think they'll kiss at some point, but unfortunately that doesn't necessarily mean they'll reunite as soon as they kiss.

They had the main couple hug and give an ILY at the end of the episode(very dramatically, I might add...his little speech still gets to me to this day). They did kiss earlier in the episode, but it was more of a goodbye kiss since they thought they'd never see each other again.

I guess it was just done in a way that you felt they were back together now--like they were so relieved to be together again and the worst was over. That's how I took it at the time, anyway, and I was actually surprised when it showed him working to win her back in the next season premiere. I made sense, I guess, since they had a ton of stuff to work through that didn't just go away because the obstacles were gone. Of course, it kind of feels like this show is having Stefan/Elena sort out their problems now, instead of after they reunite.

It's kind of a delima, isn't it. On the one hand, part of me wants them to save the kiss for the big reunion, because it would be that much more powerful. On the other hand, there's always a chance we won't have a full-blown reunion, and I don't want us to go an entire season without an S/E kiss. Keeping that in mind, Julie's 'lots of kissing' and 'making up for lost time' quotes make it sound like at least some of those kisses are going to be S/E, and I'm certainly not going to complain about it.

At this point, I'd be okay with an implied reunion, as long as they're no apart when season 4 starts. I so don't want to get a 'vague' finale. I want things to be very clear.

As you said, you'd think they're gonna work on their issues before the finale so that could eventually lead to reunion. Ep 14 gave me so much faith that they'd reunite this season, but then I had to over analyze every single word the cast and Julie said and I'm losing my mind here.

The fact that they are doing the car crash flashback makes me think it happens in the finale for a reason, but who knows. Each time I try to picture the rest of the season, I can't see how DE could get together or even how they could kiss, yet it doesn't stop me from being a little worried. This is why I hate when they give interviews. it makes me worry for nothing.

If they do reunite in the finale, I kinda want it to be their first kiss of the season. But, I won't complain if they kiss more than once.

Ugh...I need to stop reading the comments on the wikipedia entries. They kinda kill my optimism.

Well, we've been getting good things in interviews recently, but I know what you mean. Sometimes it sounds like they're talking about a different show, because the interviews hardly ever reflect what happens onscreen.

As for the crash--I definitely see flashing back to that day to be a good sign. I get the feeling that KW and JP hold that moment where Stefan saves her to a high standard, and wouldn't show it unless it was beneficial to Stefan/Elena's relationship. Though a part of me also thinks they're going to reveal something about that day we didn't know before. Whatever that 'reveal' is, though, it won't be bad for S/E. But I have my theories.

You just referenced Max and Liz which means that I love you. One of my favorite couples ever, haha.

The thing that Damon never understands with Stefan is how much the guilt weighs on him. Stefan was so caring and wanting to help people when he was alive and when you're like that, you always want to help people even when you're a vampire. Of course sometimes Stefan can't because he's a freaking vampire so he feels even more guilty than a normal person would. He knows he's using and taking advantage of a human being like they don't matter- its how he ended up a vampire in the first place. Damon, on the other hand, wanted to be a vamp and didn't need to be compelled to drink Katherine's blood. So he just thinks that if the person survives and doesn't remember afterwards what's the harm of it?
