Reasons:
He protects her.
She can protect him.
They can tease each other about anything.
He smiles a lot around her and she does a lot around him.
She trusts him.
He helped her when he turned into a vampire.
Both are bad ass vampires.
He's never hurt her as a human and would never hurt her as a vampire.
He knows when she's lying.
She reminds him of his best friend... someone he misses.
It's his first girl as a friend on the show.
They share a secret bond with hunting.
Both value the idea and bond of a great friendship and relationship.
He asked her for help with killing Katherine.
They have undeniable chemistry together... it's like magic.

I want them to dance a funny/crazy one though not the sweet dance. It seems more fitting for them.
