windows movie maker help

I had a quick question..
I'm making a new music vid, but is there any way to put the sound on from just one clip and keep the sound off from the rest of the clips?
Cause if you use this: then you put the sound off from all the clips, which I have right now, so that I only hear the music, but I want to hear the sound of 3 clips or so

Thanks in advance

Yup

Don't use that tool you're using to mute them all - instead, right-click on the audio part of the video clips you're using and "mute" each one manually, except the ones you want to hear. For those you want to hear, you can right click and raise the volume on.

Good luck

Is there a way to add text, like a site name to a video with WMM? I know, I think, how to use the credits to do so, but I would like to add text to the entire clip, and have it in the very bottom right-hand corner. I played around with it a bit, and could only get the text right in the center.

If WMM doesn't do it, is there any other programs out there that are relatively small and easy to use. I just really need to be able to cut up clips, and add the text to the bottom. Thanks for any help or advice you can give!!

I've been using WMM forever and never really saw an obvious way to add text throughout There is Adobe Premiere - pretty expensive, but well worth it. It can be complicated, but there's no need to have to use all the features. As for smaller programs like WMM, I'm not sure. Perhaps someone else knows a trick to putting text on it that way - I never looked so I don't know. Good luck!

ETA - denisetjuh1 - You're welcome Glad it worked!

Ok I need some help if anyone can help me. I downloaded the clips and tried to upload them on my WMM but I keep getting this message...

cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

Anyone know what I can do to fix that, do I have to download some type of program?

I had that problem -forever- and nearly pulled all my hair out over it!

Now, if I can just recall how I fix it! I am pretty sure that WMM only supports .wmv, .avi, .mpg and other .mpg version files. If this is the case, and your file is not one of those...you can go to www.download.com and search for a "file converter". Best to type something like ".rm .wmv converter" to convert a .rm to a viable .wmv file.

But if the file you are using should be supported, you should try the basics like restarting your computer. I had a similar problem, and reinstalling WMM fixed it.

I reccommend converting any non-.wmv file to the .wmv file - that file type usually gives me the fewest problems.

Good luck! I will brainstorm some more and try and remember the exact steps I took to fix this.

I would suggest using a different program for that.

But, if you wanted to keep things simple...I would try entering text in as a "Title"...and it should still appear on the clip for however long you want it to. Is that what you tried when the text was centered?

Hi.

I've been trying to make a music video with WMM, but there's always a DivX label in the corner of the video which annoys me. Does anybody know if there is any way to get rid of that?

I'm not sure... But it would probably take a lot of work.

Yeah actually that is what I tried. Unfortunately, the text was always right in the center. I found an article on using XML to create custom titles and credits, which has worked great. Its pretty involved though, but once I got through the dirty work (which even included math!!) its perfect, and WMM is simple and free. I'd post a link to the article, but its another forum, and that is not allowed.

Thanks for the help!

I did some research, and it appears that the logo isn't really a part of the video. It just appears, I guess because the video uses a DIVX codec. Anyhow, I found these steps to remove the logo, and it worked on my machine...
