you can try to reinstall your video card drivers. also check to make sure the connection to your pc from your monitor is good. if you have a detachable (from the monitor) pc cable you can try to replace it. aside from that it sounds like the monitor is going bad. how old is it?

It's also possible that one or more of the three electron guns has broken. Try the software option first, then try using your system with another display and see what happens.

Had something like that happen to me. If it's a pc, check your connection cord and the little connection head, and the little metal pins. When mine went nuts, it was because one of the pins had been kinda crushed, so it didin't connect properly. I hope I made sense.

Good call, that's another common problem; each pin forms a vital connection. Even a dent or slight abrasion can damage the entire cord's ability to function correctly.

Mwahaha, I was right!
If they're just crushed, and not broken off, u could try to straighten them out. I had to take mine to the shop, cause I had no idea what was wrong, and they straightened it out. It's been 3 years now, and it's still working.

I hope everyone talking about buying a new device/system is joking; most of these problems can be fixed/replaced relatively cheaply.

if the cord is messed up how would you fix that cheaply? i know if it's detachable from the monitor that's a snap... but if it's wired into it what would you do?

Mine is wired in, so I guess you'd have to take it in repairs and tell them what the problem is. They'll fix it. I learned one thing, if it's too complex, take it to someone.

Most of the problems, not all; wired in cords with problems, are a big issue. The inside of a monitor holds enough power to instantly kill someone, even if unplugged; it's not a cheap problem to get a skilled technician to fix.

However, the other potential problems (defective video card, detachable cord with problems, etc) don't require a wholesale replacement.

we'll see I've had my computer for about 5-6 years and my dad fixs computer for a living. And I got him to look at it and he said I might as well just buy a new one it would be to much to work on and plus my buner and everything seems to be going out on it. I think I just be better to keep it intill I can buy a new one and get me a nice computer that I can take with me when I leave to go to school.

If you can borrow a video card, try swapping out the old one and see what happens...
