Maybe not, maybe just want Danny to reconnect with Rachel, but I don't think they are planning his exit,

Yeah, I get that feeling too. The same thing that is happening between Steve and Catherine seems to be happening to Danny and Rachel. The comments, the mentions of them etc. It just seems like they are setting it up for Rachel and Danny to reconnect with each other.
