LOL, yes I doubt the writers were even thinking that far or even cared. On this show Merlin is the only one who can do anything with magic and sense it, everyone else it seems is ignorant even when they grew up practicing it, like Morgause. It's just silly that Morgana has to suffer to make Merlin the almighty. I think the various legends make it clear the two were evenly matched. This show just does not care about a strong female and makes almost all of the female sorceress evil and kills them off.

I think that's what it comes down to, this show doesn't seem to care about giving decent writing for its female characters

It certainly hasn't done well in that area so far. They've written some good stuff for female characters at times, but it's been very inconsistent, with a lot of bad writing. They really screwed up Morgana and they've given us no reason to be interested in Gwen. Still, they did cast Katie.

I think the writers are far more interested in how she looks than actual storylines for her except she got a ton of screentime season 3--when of course she was evil. It just proves you're either evil or a love interest if you're a female on this show.

When I first came across Katie, seeing her in icons, I noticed three things in particular, her looks, her passionate fiery facial expressions and her regal bearing. That drew my attention. Since then I've seen her acting in Merlin and elsewhere and seen her in special features and heard stories about her and read quotes of hers and I've gotten to know her much better. I really like what she's turned out to be. Not only does she have great emotional power and great beauty, she has a marvellous infectious sense of fun and a great sense of humor. She's sympathetic, relatable and highly likable. Her feeling seems heartfelt and genuine. There's an unaffected honesty and vigor to her. She's a very enthusiastic person. I love her smile, her laugh and when she's being funny. She's animate and vivacious in the extreme. And her stunning eyes have a depth of humanity in them and can look highly sympathetic. She's a very human person. I think there's something very healthy about her and her attitude to things. Yay for Ireland.

Stories like Neda's stories of meeting her and stuff I read on places like imdb about people meeting her and having a good chat and stuff like that. Katie doesn't let being a star get in the way of her being a real person.

Yeah, I've always heard she's the nicest and most approachable. She also personally writes letters back to fans. I kind of want to send her one but have no clue what to say

Yeah Katie is extremely nice and approachable She's like the sweetest person ever. I'm sure she would appreciate whatever you wrote to her Just tell her how much you love Morgana and that you think she's a fantastic actress and seems like a very nice person etc.
