Yup, it definitely has issues with pacing sometimes.

Finn's downward descent being one of them, for sure.

Also, I always felt like Clarke/Finn's final scene was done in a beautiful/heartbreaking way. Even though I never shipped them, that scene gutted me.

I am re-watching season 1 and 2 right now and I forgot how much I freaking love Finn and Finn/Clarke. Finn/Clarke were the only couple (aside from Clexa) that I have ever shipped on this show

I really liked Clarke/Finn too. And their final scene was heartbreaking. It was amazingly done and it hurts watching it.

I miss them so much. I was just going through some old gifsets of them and it just re-iterates that they were the only couple I was genuinely excited about in this series.
