Maybe it was to show Raven was already in the path of accepting her pain and getting better since his death didn't break her and make her be tempted by the chip again, even if it did make her sad. She has realized she was strong enough to bear the pain and feel better after she broke threw Alie, so it was maybe to make the viewers see that. But they could have simply have her say something about that, so that wasn't necessary On the contrary, their relationship was very interesting to develop and understand Raven's character (notably concerning parenthood) and they kind of killed a great scenaristic device... as a device too, but a more feeble and quick one.

Does anyone picture Raven as a mother ? One of the teens (or even anyone) having a kid sounds too "every-day life" for the show and so weird this universe but I can't help imagining it... I'm gonna ask this question in the Delinquents topic, curious to know how people would picture each teen with a child

I've read a lot of fan fiction that tackles this (sometimes more realistically than others), and for some reason, in a lot of the fics, Raven's the first to get knocked up.

Because the writers needed the delinquents to be alone without the aid of an adult to help them figure anything out. That's literally the only explanation I can think of.

I can't see Raven as a mom in canon universe until she's much older, but I think she'd be very maternal. If the delinquents were in their mid-to-late 20s I can definitely see her with a toddler running around. I bet it might bring up rough memories of her own mom, though.

All I remember is Nygel making a snide comment about Raven's mom when she was trying to get the pressure regulator. It implied that Raven's mom slept around to get food and necessities for Raven.

Screw that. I bet Raven's mom was as amazing and badass is Raven is. Raven had to get those traits from someone!

I don't remember any of it Did she die in an Ark station crash ? They didn't mention it and Raven didn't seem concerned about the Ark coming to Earth so maybe she's been floated ?

Raven told Clarke that her mother used to sell her daughter's food rations to buy herself alcool and that it's how she became friends with Finn, who realized it and gave her his own rations and was the only one remembering her birthday so she doesn't appear as a good mom

Oh I forgot about that part! That's part of why she and Finn were so close in the first place.

I would imagine that her mom was probably floated well before the series timeline.

Yeah, I always took it that Raven's mom had been floated a few years before the point in time when Raven was introduced and that she was an orphan which was another reason why Finn was so important to her. B/c he was the only family that she felt she had left.
