And I don't want Clarke going to Polis, at least not anytime soon. Not sure why - just don't. |

I don't either, also not entirely sure why - I suspect I have a desire to see Clarke in a completely new setting with anybody other than grounders - even for a few episodes. I'm still interested in the grounders, but not the grounders + Clarke.
And Fuzzy, I would like to personally think you for starting this new thread. __________________

I think it'll be pretty impossible for Clarke to wander off into the world and not interact with Grounders. That's like her only option. Either she meets more Grounders or she's alone.

I don't want or expect Clarke to not interact with Grounders, just not Polis. At least not right away. And I want her to somehow meet up with Jaha and Murphy.

So I watched Day Trip. I love this episode. It feels like my episode, just because it’s the one that finally got me hooked on this show. First time I came in toward the end and saw Bellamy wandering around with his hallucinations and was extremely confused. But I still really liked his conversation with Clarke by the tree. Something about his, “I’m a monster” made me feel for him. I wanted to know more about his character and this bond he shared with Clarke.
Loved how Bellamy does not react to Lincoln head butting Miller. They’re so worried about the cold, but come the end of season two it’s still not that cold. Huh? Anti-Grounder stick makes me happy. I liked the moment Clarke told Finn she trusts Bellamy. It felt like one of those things where you didn’t realize you thought something until you said it. There’s an honesty to that I really enjoy. And high Monty is one my favorite things ever. |

I loved that episode, but on the other hand the hallucinogen thing started feeling gimmicky to me part of the way through. I don't know why! I didn't feel like that the first time around. I guess because we had to watch Clarke go through the crap from her subconscious, then we had to watch Bellamy. Maybe I was just in a bad mood I mean it was great for their characters, especially Bellamy's - now that's a way to show remorse.
I thought the anti-grounder stick thing was such a cute moment between Octavia and Jasper. High-Monty is probably the greatest thing ever. Also Raven and her "You are the most beautiful broom in a broom closet of brooms." so silly. RIP Connor! Was I the only one that laughed when Lincoln headbutted Miller? I like Miller, too. Good point about the cold - where is it? They looked cold during the episode in season 2 where Clarke shot that sniper, but then it was warm again in the season finale I found Dax to be extremely annoying and annoying looking. He seemed like a big dumb doofus. The awkward moment between Finn, Clarke and Raven was boring. I wanted to bring up this interesting point, that shows how people can interpret this scene differently On the 100 Wiki, when Bellamy is showing Clarke how to use the gun, the person wrote "When he fixes Clarke’s stance, Bellamy notices how close he is to her and gets flustered. Bellamy shakes his head and pulls away from Clarke. Taking one of the rifles Bellamy decides to demonstrate instead." So clearly that person thought Bellamy was having a moment with Clarke - and not that he was feeling the effects of those nuts or beans. That's what I thought at first too, but now I'd think that no, that wasn't the case - he was just getting woozy. Did you know Day Trip originally aired a year ago, today? __________________

Lincoln head butting Miller was just about wonderful.
I get what you're saying about the hallucinogenic nuts feeling gimmicky. But I still liked it as a great narrative tool. The show really only focuses on four characters hallucinations - Monty, Jasper, Bellamy, Clarke - and each are telling and effective to the narrative. Monty and Jasper are mostly for setup so we understand the nuts are causing hallucinations - thereby allowing for Octavia's plan and us understanding what's going on with Bellamy and Clarke though they are separate from the actions of everyone else. Monty's hallucinations are really harmless and innocent - much like Monty. Jasper's hallucinations are indicative of his PTSD. Then the meat of the matter is Bellamy and Clarke. I absolutely love that the show gave us this insight into how this immense burden and the choices they've made are weighing on these two - gimmicky as it may have been. Already done with the love triangle that is Clarke/Finn/Raven. If this show never does a love triangle again it will be too soon. I had to laugh when I read a recent tweet from Jason saying that Lindsey and Thomas did a reading together in response to being asked about a chemistry test. I'm thinking, "And you didn't think to stop this awkward mess before it started then?" As for the varied interpretations to Bellamy's touching Clarke...that could go on and on. It's like when he caught her from falling in Earth Skills. Was he considering dropping her? Answer: Yes - Jason confirmed that one on twitter. But people will still see it the way they want to. And that's okay. I staunchly live in camp "It was the Jobi nuts." So shoot me. |

I believe now, that it was the nuts. Because if he were really 'flustered' over being near her - would we not have seen something immediately after regarding that? I don't know, usually this show doesn't introduce anything unless it's going to serve a point or purpose pretty quickly.
I think it felt gimmicky to me because the scenes went on a bit long, just in my opinion. That said, they served a great purpose and showed us how those two were really feeling inside. Also it was creepy/funny when Clarke's dad called her that name and she was like "huh?" __________________

Day Trip is probably one of the worst episodes of the whole series, imo. It's almost a bottle episode and not that much goes on in terms of plot development. Octavia lets Lincoln go and Finn sees her, Clarke and Bellamy find guns. It's good to see Bellamy and Clarke struggling with their guilt, but I think they spent too much time on it. Compared with the rest of the series, this episode is like a regression to the first few episodes where everything had a very teen feel to it. Hallucinogenic nuts? Please.
I'm also firmly in the camp that believes that moment was due to the nuts and not romantic feelings. That shot was meant to serve a narrative purpose: showing us that Bellamy was starting to feel weird. Otherwise, the audience might not have made the connection with what was happening. We see Bellamy eat a nut as he's walking over to talk to her and then like 10 seconds later he's looking confused and shaking his head like he's trying to clear it. MiniElky is right, if it had meant to show romantic feelings, there would have been at least some follow up to that at any point over the next 20 episodes or whatever. |
