Yeah, people who seek for ethnic representation on Bellamy felt really offended by a "white" girl beating down a chained poc man being seen as right. Me too, I understand her motives, but that was "abusive", if anything was. He was freaking chained and he's your brother! But anyhow... It is a complex situation.

I agree with what you said, and honestly, seeing stuff like that on Tumblr is part of what prompted me to take a Tumblr hiatus, which has turned into an extended Tumblr hiatus, which may become a permanent one, because it's been very nice. I like just going on certain Tumblrs and being able to reblog arts and gifs and stuff once in a while.

Speaking of arts, that must be a newer one, Ana, because I don't think I've seen it before, and I've seen most of the Bellarke arts. It's very nice. Love it. Might have to reblog that one.

So Sarah posting that gifset showcasing a similarity between Peeta/Katniss and Bellarke got me thinking, yet again, about some parallels with those two ships. Oddly enough this had already been on my mind a bit. And now I'm wondering about some other ships. What other OTPs do any of you ship which you think have a strong parallel or likeness to Bellarke? Or do you have an OTP which is so vastly different you can't even bother to compare? I know this has sort of been discussed in the past but I often even wonder about my own OTPs. Sometimes I see a commonality which explains my taste but then other times it just seems so eclectic that it defies explanation. Wondering about others too.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie, even I kind of hesitated a little bit before hitting the reblog button (on one in particular). But . . . I read fanfic that depicts that stuff--hell, I write fanfic that depicts that stuff--so whatever.

Hmm, my other main ship (and let's be honest here, all-time OTP) is Michael/Maria from Roswell. Who are very much NOT a slow burn. In fact, their relationship starts quickly and impulsively and launches into lust territory well before friendship. They're never really just friends with each other, because they're always so damn sexually attracted to each other. So that's a major difference.

Probably my third biggest ship is Buffy/Spike. They're definitely more of a slower burn, but they never really become friends, despite the fact that they're reluctant allies.

My other ships (Nathan/Haley, Sawyer/Kate, Damon/Elena) . . . there are some pretty obvious romantic undertones right from the start. Maybe they don't dive in as quickly as Michael/Maria, but they're definitely not slow burn ships, either. I mean, I guess you can make an argument that Damon/Elena are, since it took them until Season 4 to get together, but . . . I mean, along the way, there are these huge, big, obvious hints that they're going to get together. Not to say that there aren't hints that Bellamy and Clarke might get together. The Bellarke hints are just more subtle (which I actually prefer, because it's more realistic).

So basically the conclusion that I'm coming to is that Bellarke is the slowest burn relationship I've ever shipped. Now, with that in mind . . . I think I'm pretty much shipping Meredith and Alex from Grey's Anatomy these days. I've watched vids, read articles, posted on their thread so I think it's safe to say I've moved out of the "supporting them" zone and into the "shipping them" zone, by my definition. And since it's Season 13, that build-up has been much slower. And they are each other's best friend, much like Bellamy and Clarke are each other's best friend, so . . . this could say something about my shipping preferences, and how they're evolving and changing as I grow older.
