REASONS:
Because Lux is now the one lucky person out there who now calls her mom.
Because she bought her a cell phone.
Because she spent the entire day shopping for ingredients to make Lux dinner to celebrate her first day at Westmonte.
Because Lux grew up listening to Cate.
Because Cate bought a parenting book.
Because she's sorry she's gone about "this whole mom thing" wrong.
Because she's used to people telling her what to do; she's just not used to caring enough to listen.
Because Lux knows all about Cate's cooking skills -- or lackthereof.
Because Cate too had braces when she was younger.
Because the perfect mom Lux described as a child almost perfectly fit Cate.
Because she loved Lux's hand wreath and letter to Santa.
Because she didn't 'out' her on purpose.
Because upon being given an ultimatum, Lux chose to stay with Cate.
Because she waited up till after midnight for her to come home.
Because they've shopped for handbags -- and had fun!
Because she asked Lux for dress advice.
Because she refers to Cate as her, "overly concerned, over compensating mother".
Because she crashed Lux's party.
Because she just wants to "hang" with Lux.
Because even Baze knows Lux respects her.
Because Cate knew she was "pretending to sleep so [they] don't have to talk."
Because she admitted 'maybe' she was.
Because Lux apologized.
Because they sat on the couch together, covered up with a blanket.
Here are some mom/daughter reasons... like I said on the B/L thread, for some reason I'm not very good at getting reasons down for these two 'pairings', but at least I try, right?
Because she knows her.
Because at the end of the day, Cate is always there to give her advice.
Because both mother and daughter are going through guy troubles.
Because she presented her with break-up ice cream and advice.
Because she gave her cash for retail therapy.
Because "boyfriend leaving aside, this has all been pretty great lately".
Because Lux probably knows this by now but if not, she should: whatever she needs, Cate'll be there.
Because when something important came up, she went to Cate first for help.
Because she went to see if Cate was okay after Ryan left.
Because they were just starting to figure things out...

These two are definitely my favorite mother/daughter relationship on tv right now, especially after what Lux said to Valerie.

It may have been mentioned in the last thread but I absolutely loved the moment during the ultrasound when the Doctor told Cate to take good care of her baby and she said "We will" and they show her squeeze Lux's hand

And Lux's speech about Valerie's lack of motherly instinct leading her to her real mom was We had very subtle "mom" moments but I'm waiting to hear Lux call Cate "mom" officially.

The ultrasound scene was super sweet. But my favorite was Cate encouraging Lux to go talk to Valerie. She knew it was something that Lux needed to do and she supported it but still let Lux know that she was there

tftnt, Emily! Love the title. Again, they were just beautiful in this episode. I couldn't ask for more. Cate telling Lux she couldn't lose her if she tried. Cate encouraging Lux to talk to Valerie, and Britt's speech. The sweet ultrasound. So many great mom/daughter moments. We just need Lux to call her "mom" officially. I can feel it coming soon...I hope.

I think it just made Cate happy to finally feel acknowledged as her mom. I think when Britt said she could risk losing another mom, she couldn't risk losing Cate it was a small way of Lux saying that she's so happy Cate is her mom and they found each other again.
I would say if 13 was not intended to be the end we may not hear mom. But if it's true liz did do a rewrite then we may get to hear it after all. Liz said there are still some big surprises left and she has so much to share with us (pics and vid I assume) for 13 but obviously can't just yet! bummer cause I'm totally down for spoilers!

I loved their talk on the bench during the recess. I teared up so much there when Lux says "I couldn't take losing another mom, I couldn't take losing you." and then their hug. Agh! Emotions were running high!

There were plenty of little moments in this episodes. Very meaningful small gestures, like Cate walking very next to or behind Lux all the time, observing her, don't making a fuss about the abuse situation, because the punch went too deep, but also because Lux well being was first; like putting herself into second place and talking sweetly to Valerie, like encouraging Lux to close that chapter and talking to Valerie, too.
And Lux's tears when she hugged Cate...
