It doesn't necessarily have to be a hate-to-love story for me. As long as it has a good buildup. Although a Pride & Prejudice buildup has it's charm.

I prefer those, makes everything more interesting, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed Delena so much if they weren't frenemies in the beginning, it was all difficult but they managed that very well

So many options for our little fanfiction. Or imagine one of them getting a fever (which was more dangerous back then), and the other taking care of him/her.  |

That'd be cute for their canon human life too, him getting hurt or ill and her taking care of him. In 1864 AU it'd be more intense, in canon human life more funny with him being dramatic

She'll probably be like "poor baby" in a sarcastic way.
Whoever gets ill in the AU, it will surely strenghten their bond. If Elena is the patient, she probably caught it while taking care of other people. And Damon will see what a compassionate person she is. He'll go crazy over losing her. And if Damon is the patient, she'll be a cute "nurse". |
