Well said! However, I think it's both. Bonnie did accept Damon unconditionally (she stopped wanting to kill him!) accepting that a vampire can have good qualities even with bad acts but she was still going to call him out when he did bad things. She held him accountable. If he wanted to have a relationship with her, he couldn't just do whatever he wanted, he had to be who she believed he could be--his best self, so to speak.

I agree, we were baited to keep the show going once Nina left. Then Bonnie was given Enzo as her OTP and Damon, Elena, once she awoke. How they put Bonnie with Enzo comforts me a little bit, ironically. They only did it after Bonnie was severely hurt by Damon when he chickened out and went to desiccate. The way Bonnie was SO hurt by him, especially the way it was acted by those two, shows that they would have become a couple had it not happened. At the very least a deep friendship that goes beyond mere romance. Then Damon was also SO jealous of Enzo when he woke up and saw those two together, whether that was written in or acted by Ian, I don't know, but it also shows that Damon may have fallen for Bonnie had he not been cowardly in "not being able to live without Elena".

I love in season 1 and 2 they do have scenes. shes definitely stronger than damon. The bennett witches don't even like damon but I do think he is nicer to her.

These two videos illustrate what I said above. They clearly show that if Damon hadn't screwed up and broken Bonnie's heart, Enzo wouldn't have needed to step in and they'd be together.

^ Steroline as friendship; Stelena season 1-2 but I appreciated Stelena in the later seasons when I realized how terrible they were getting written.

For Stefan, I loved him most with Katherine... it just intrigued me most of all his pairings.
