I have 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

I like traditional names, but I like unusual ones if they have personal meaning to them.
I picked my oldest's name, Hannah, when I was a teenager. At the time it was traditional and not popular. Little did I know it'd end up so popular by the time she was born. :/
My son we picked Samuel. It just felt like a good name. I didn't make any list of names for kids beyond Hannah prior to having them. So our next child got an unusual name, Iceley. It's a family name, and she was born on the only snowy day we had that January. And lastly we have Isabelle, which is my name in Spanish ( to acknowledge my husband's family) and a few other languages. Too bad that was the year for Isabella (I blame Twilight) and a lot of people mess up her name.

There for a while seems like Sophia was popular. And seems like Rose is making a comback too.

Yeah. I think Emma is reigning supreme at the moment. I used to like that name, but I try to keep out of the top ten most popular if I can help it. :)

A girl I went to school with and a baby last Oct and named her Emma. Emma Ruth which I thought was neat since her name is Erin Ruth.

The more I think about it I really like Dune. I don't think I actually would name my child that. Even if I did it would be a middle name. BF made a comment about the first name being Sand and then I realized boy or girl the first name could be Sandy. So Sandy Dune! He's not impressed.

I used to try to get my brothers to name a child Indiana since our last name was Jones. They wouldn't do it, lol.
I have one brother who names his kids after characters in books they like, scifi and fantasy. Their girls are Sassinak, nicknamed Sassy, and Eowyn. I know the first one comes from a space scifi book and the other Lord of the Rings, but I don't know the source of their sons' names, Avion, Zidan, and Ryoben.

I feel for the most part that the men they weigh in and give opinions but I feel like women have or at least should have more weigh in on the name.

We decided I got final say on girl's names and he got final say on boy's names. But with 1 boy and 4 girls, it's been a bit lopsided, lol.

Drunk On You 02-08-2016 03:27 PM

 I would say.

I would like an unique name but nothing to far out there.

sunshineliz 02-08-2016 06:54 PM

Well, I wouldn't want to name a kid " Bus Station #4" or something like it either. :)

I encourage my husband's input, but I absolutely refuse to name the baby Pearl, which is what he keeps calling her. :/

Well It worked out good for you that all the rest were girls

Yay for snow days! But the kids are going to be a bit disappointed when they realize I expect them to clean their rooms. :D

I just want to live somewhere it is 74 degrees fahrenheit all year long. With a high, snow covered mountain nearby so I can get my snow fix. Probably doesn't exist though. :)
