The Lounge {OT} #34: hows it hanging round the globe?

Continue.....

Well today is a much nicer day. I have been powering through Frasier in the past few weeks I look forward to it before I go to sleep but now I think I'll be finished with it in no time

Drunk On You 01-31-2016 11:53 AM

Just got to get through tonight and then I'm off.

Marki 02-01-2016 03:13 AM

ahh good :) i hope its not a busy one for you. i had my day off today after the weekend

Drunk On You 02-01-2016 05:29 AM

Wasn't too bad. Especially since I got off at 6. Hoping I can take a few hour nap so I can stay up to a decent hour tonight. I tend to stay up most of the day and crash around 5/6pm because I'm so hyped in the morning that I'm off that I can't sleep.

sunshineliz 02-01-2016 07:46 AM

Can't sleep hardly at all. Between a bad cough and general pregnancy uncomfortableness, I can't sleep for long. Seeing both the OB for a regular appointment, and my primary doctor for the cough today. I can't imagine trying to deliver a baby with this cough so I'm hoping I can get rid of it soon.
And I feel like I'm on the countdown! 5 weeks from yesterday until the due date. I'm kinda hoping we go a little early though. :)

Drunk On You 02-01-2016 02:56 PM

It's so close! Hope you have an easy labor.

Did yall find out the gender of the baby? Or waiting to be surprised?

sunshineliz 02-01-2016 03:22 PM

Yeah it's another girl. :) That'll make 4 girls and one boy for us. My husband's family was the exact opposite-- one girl and four boys so this feels weird to him. He keeps wondering how he got so many girls, lol.

I'm not looking forward to labor, but I hope it goes well and quickly.

Drunk On You 02-01-2016 05:01 PM

My cousin has one girl and 4 boys. Have you got a name picked out?

sunshineliz 02-01-2016 06:10 PM

I never say I've definitely picked until they're born, but I think I'm going to name her Elora. Norwegian form of Eliora which means " The Lord is Light." I saw it while looking at family history and Norwegian names. My grandpa was from Norway.

Marki 02-02-2016 04:29 AM

Do you have any sisters?

That's a pretty name I like it

Drunk On You 02-02-2016 11:19 AM

That is pretty.

At one point I had a boys name picked out. And I still kind of have one still (different names).

Marki 02-03-2016 04:33 AM

My boys names change all the time but I've always stuck with one girls name

Drunk On You 02-03-2016 06:30 AM

I know the trend now is non traditional names. Baby name list ads keep popping up on my FB which more are like the top 20 baby names that are going down, or the new trendy names, etc. One was common words that would make pretty baby names. One of them was Dune and I really like that. One of my cousin's boy name is Kruz. And my uncle and aunt named their boy Cash. Funny because there's a celebrity with that name and their last name. I believe he's married to Jessica Alba.

For girls I do like the name MaKayla. Kind of helps that it's the name of the main character in my favorite book series and it's spelled like MacKayla.

Problems of loving to read books. You tend to pick names from book characters.

Marki 02-06-2016 03:44 AM

i find it quite annoying now that theres so many coverage about baby names every few months or so theres an internet news story of this years most popular baby names...and then theres other ones like top 10 indie names ...etc and it just keeps on going.

ahh thats like me but with names from tv shows. in a way it either puts me off them or makes me love the names. problem is at my work theres alot of children so overtime you tend to hate a few names.

Drunk On You 02-06-2016 12:18 PM

For a boy I wouldn't mind David as a middle name since it's my grandpa's name (also my uncle was named after him and my brother's middle name) and my bf's first name. But he hates his first name. I think more have to do with he's named after his dad and there's bad blood/history between him and his dad. Plus my ex was David.

sunshineliz 02-06-2016 01:13 PM

I have 3 sisters and 3 brothers.

I like traditional names, but I like unusual ones if they have personal meaning to them.
I picked my oldest's name, Hannah, when I was a teenager. At the time it was traditional and not popular. Little did I know it'd end up so popular by the time she was born. :/
My son we picked Samuel. It just felt like a good name. I didn't make any list of names for kids beyond Hannah prior to having them. So our next child got an unusual name, Iceley. It's a family name, and she was born on the only snowy day we had that January. And lastly we have Isabelle, which is my name in Spanish ( to acknowledge my husband's family) and a few other languages. Too bad that was the year for Isabella (I blame Twilight) and a lot of people mess up her name.

Drunk On You 02-06-2016 01:26 PM

There for a while seems like Sophia was popular. And seems like Rose is making a comback too.

sunshineliz 02-06-2016 03:41 PM

Yeah. I think Emma is reigning supreme at the moment. I used to like that name, but I try to keep out of the top ten most popular if I can help it. :)

Drunk On You 02-07-2016 12:49 PM

A girl I went to school with and a baby last Oct and named her Emma. Emma Ruth which I thought was neat since her name is Erin Ruth.

The more I think about it I really like Dune. I don't think I actually would name my child that. Even if I did it would be a middle name. BF made a comment about the first name being Sand and then I realized boy or girl the first name could be Sandy. So Sandy Dune! He's not impressed.

Marki 02-07-2016 01:06 PM

:goof: my sisters name is emma ive always liked the name.

Well im the opposite my partner a few years back was name names of a footballers last name and Link as is link from zelda etc and i was having no part of that.

sunshineliz 02-07-2016 02:06 PM

I used to try to get my brothers to name a child Indiana since our last name was Jones. They wouldn't do it, lol.
I have one brother who names his kids after characters in books they like, scifi and fantasy. Their girls are Sassinak, nicknamed Sassy, and Eowyn. I know the first one comes from a space scifi book and the other Lord of the Rings, but I don't know the source of their sons' names, Avion, Zidan, and Ryoben.

Drunk On You 02-08-2016 07:17 AM

I feel for the most part that the men they weigh in and give opinions but I feel like women have or at least should have more weigh in on the name.

sunshineliz 02-08-2016 03:05 PM

We decided I got final say on girl's names and he got final say on boy's names. But with 1 boy and 4 girls, it's been a bit lopsided, lol.

Drunk On You 02-08-2016 03:27 PM

 I would say.

I would like an unique name but nothing to far out there.

sunshineliz 02-08-2016 06:54 PM

Well, I wouldn't want to name a kid " Bus Station #4" or something like it either. :)

I encourage my husband's input, but I absolutely refuse to name the baby Pearl, which is what he keeps calling her. :/
