They're at the wedding dress place where Monica picks out the one she wants (then goes to a cheaper store to buy the dress there) Phoebe was just having fun trying them on.

i prefer earlier seasons but ive seen mostly earlier seasons episodes. i think i just find the characters more funny in earlier seasons.

I prefer the earlier seasons. In my opinion they were funnier because the focus was on the comedy whereas in later seasons they had more dramatic story lines (e.g. infertility, Chandler's career change, Joey's t.v. series fiasco, the Ross-Rachel-Joey thing). I couldn't really get into the more dramatic side of things because I was so used to the comedy.
