Agree. If you can't stand the two main characters, the show must be pretty brutal to get through. Sheesh, I love Dawson and Joey so much, what gives?

^ Yeah, agreed. If I don't like the main characters on a show, I just don't watch it. And I still don't really get the Dawson hate. He made the same amount of mistakes as anyone else and stood up for what was right, even when it wasn't easy. Like in the s2 finale when he had to choose between Joey and doing what was right. He was willing to lose her over that. Of course, I didn't like when he brought that copy of the test to the group in s3. That was really weird for him being that he wouldn't even steal lipstick in s2, he returned it. So I found that OOC given those two examples I just gave.

Rewatching early s3 and I think it's pretty obvious they were doing a role reversal with DJo at first. Dawson wasn't ready for "them" yet and Joey was pining/waiting for him to be ready. I think that was their original intention then things changed. I like that Joey was the one to get Dawson to wake up about Eve and help him return to himself so to speak.

Hi guys! I totally agree that if i don't like the main character, I won't watch a show.

Dawson made some mistakes, but he was also an angsty teen. I think for me the biggest issues, was how you could tell the writing difference and focus of the show changes starting in season 3.

The whole Eve SL was pretty painful.

^ Yeah pretty much. s3 is my least favorite Dawson season because of how out of character he was written but there were episodes where he was like his old self. After Eve left and up until the PJo stuff started.

I feel the same way. It was just a big shock how OOC he was from season 1 and 2 Dawson.

It started in the premiere, he was acting like Pacey in the first few episodes of s3.
