10 TV Shows That Are Essential To Understanding The 1990s
Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1997 – 2003)
Buffy The Vampire Slayer demonstrated the advancement of feminism in the 1990s
Buffy Summers, the butt-kicking protagonist of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, challenged traditional gender roles and turned the damsel-in-distress trope entirely on its head. Featuring a strong female lead, Buffy represented the changing attitudes towards women in the 1990s. Much of the show's cultural impact came from Buffy the Vampire Slayer's LGBTQ+ representation, and that deeply resonated with high schoolers in the 1990s. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was more than a teenage supernatural drama series as it mirrored societal shifts, embraced diversity, and empowered an entire generation of young women.

BTVS is definitely one of the best things to come out of the 90s. The show will forever be amazing along with Buffy being the most badass character ever created. She will always have the crown!

20 Shows We Wish We Could Watch for the First Time Again
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer was ahead of its time in its casting of a strong woman lead and making her an average young woman who becomes a trained killer. Most series have a natural end to them when the teenage protagonists graduate from high school, but instead of that happening to Buffy, we successfully see her transition into a responsible adult as she takes care of her mom and sister on top of everything else going on.

What We Want to See for the First Time Again
Watching Buffy juggle her school, romantic, and secret killer lives was incredible back in the '90s, but plenty of fans would give anything to see her back on the streets, saving her little town again for the very first time. From blasting the heads of her enemies by screaming to brutally ripping monsters apart, some of the best kill scenes in any show happen throughout this series' seven seasons. Stream on Hulu

10 TV Exits That Were Totally Out Of Character
Daniel "Oz" Osbourne
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Oz's character journey in Buffy the Vampire Slayer was tragic in the sense that he was unrecognizable by its end. Willow and Tara were perfect for each other, but Willow and Oz were a sweet couple as well. The young werewolf loved his girlfriend, and they went through a lot together. Oz cheating on Willow with Veruca, another werewolf, out of the blue and leaving the gang to go on a self-discovery journey didn't feel like something he would do. Oz treated Willow with respect and admiration, and he wouldn't have betrayed her in this way.

I don't think Oz was ruined as much as other people think. Even though I hated the Veruca bs, it seemed more like the werewolf in him that was with her and not Oz IMO. I don't believe Oz meant to hurt Willow in any way and like he said, she is the only person he has ever loved. I guess I could see Oz leaving town to figure out what's going on with him so he doesn't hurt Willow like he almost did after killing Veruca. It kind of sucks Oz had to be written out since SG's career was taking off. The only good thing about it was that it cut that ridiculous storyline short since apparently it was originally supposed to go on most of the season *gags* That's when I found it out of character if Oz was having an affair with Veruca behind Willow's back for a while. That's what I couldn't see Oz doing. I'm still glad he comes back later and he and Willow get some nice closure, and that he shows up in "Restless" as well. I don't mind Willow and Tara together, but I will always like Oz and Willow together more. Plus Willow and Tara were getting a little toxic in S6 with Willow using magic to erase her memory and how Willow started treating Tara before she realized she had a problem. I'm glad that didn't happen with Oz and Willow.

I think they should of put Giles here more for when he left in S6 after Buffy was brought back to life. I personally think it was the WORST AND MOST CRUEL timing for him to leave town when Buffy was just brought back to life, had to adjust to that, along with also being left in debt while having to take care of Dawn. I find that much more OOC than when Oz left IMO.

What's Dolly Parton got to do with that? lol. I'm not surprised though and never thought they stopped. I still bet this will be remade one day considering this is one of the most popular shows of all time and no one has any originality anymore.
