The sequels that followed never truly capture the originality and spirit of the first film.

In American Pie, four friends make a pact to lose their virginity before high school ends. Jim (Jason Biggs) is the most awkward and clumsy of the bunch. Even when he gets close to his goal with a classmate, he's embarrassed by his lack of experience and his life falls apart. It doesn't help that his dad (Eugene Levy) isn't much of a ladies' man either, as he gives Jim little or no good advice.

American Pie was not only hilarious but relevant when it was released in 1999. Countless teenagers could relate to the movie in their own meandering quests for love. The movie captured the age of the internet in its early stages and incorporated it into the movie. In the end, Jim and his buddies got lucky and America couldn't look at apple pie the same way again.
