I caught up with my old pal JS in L.A. (ugh, I know. The smog! The traffic! The Kardashians!) and here’s what the former fictional Brooklynite has to say:
Gossip Girl: So, do you stay in contact with the Gossip Girl cast these days?
Jessica Szohr: I do. We all have different paths but there’s a few of us that have stayed really close. I made some lifelong friends from there.
Gossip Girl: Have you talked to Blake since she had her baby?
Jessica Szohr: I haven’t, but I sent love and she’s sent pictures of the baby. She’s beautiful—I didn’t expect anything else!
Gossip Girl: What kind of mom will Blake be?
Jessica Szohr: She had a very motherly tone to her when we were on set. She’s going to be a great mom. I have no doubt in my mind.
Gossip Girl: Do you want kids someday?
Jessica Szohr: For sure, but I’m just not ready yet.
Gossip Girl: You’re playing a nurse on USA’s medical thriller Complications, which is a lot heavier thanGossip Girl.
Jessica Szohr: Yeah, it’s a much more mature, edgier role for me.
Gossip Girl: She’s also gay.
Jessica Szohr: Yes. She has a girlfriend named Liz, played by Chelsea Hayes. It’s been awesome to play.
Gossip Girl: Wearing hospital scrubs, do you miss your Gossip Girl wardrobe?
Jessica Szohr: Yes, I miss it but I had a good long run with that, and I still dress up a lot in my day-to-day life.
Gossip Girl: What’s your off-screen style?
Jessica Szohr: Bohemian chic, sort of tomboyish—I go for comfort a lot. I like to be stylish but I like to be comfortable.
