I really really loved Eliza in the pilot, she made an awesome job and i agree with you, she's such a badass! Echo is a complex character and i don't know but she made me feel a little sad for her right after the therapy.
She made me feel a little sad for her as well. I guess I spent the whole episode split between feeling sad for Miss Penn and what had happened before, and for Echo who seemed so innocently childlike when she was in the dollhouse.

Eliza rocked it, perfectly. Is there nothing this girl can't do?

My dad had me listen to a local radio show that he likes this morning to tell him basically what was said, and Eliza was on this morning (and no she is not in Seattle, she was there on the phone).

Basically, she talked about Dollhouse and a lot of stuff that we've been hearing about the show (what it's about, how it got started) and then she said (which I think we've heard before) that the show is kinda about Echo's growing self-awareness about what's going on. And then she talked about how she and her mom are feminists. And then they asked if they could read a question to her from a guy who's a big fan of her's and she said yes. And the question was "What's your favorite position in the sack?" And she didn't answer, she just started stuttering a little and then cleverly found a way around answering the question. And then that was the end of her part on the show.

I was sure hoping that this show would not go there with her, but since that's the type of show it is, I'm not surprised that it did.

She really did, and I thought Eliza played that very well.

She came across as completely and utterly innocent and unsuspecting when in the Dollhouse.

LOVED Eliza in the Dollhouse pilot. I also thought she played both roles so perfectly. I love Ms. Penn's past and how she was able to convey a variety of emotions with this one character. What I like about her being childlike as Echo in the Dollhouse is that children are naturally curious. They want to explore, they want to know things. So yes, while they may be innocent, their curiosity will get the best of them at some point. I think Joss was brilliant in thinking and writing that with Echo. It's all psychological. The key to Echo's increasing self-awareness is her curiosity and whatever can be bled through from her seemingly shady past.

Just my two cents.
