Unfortunately, she hasn't been nominated before. Hopefully, that'll change. I don't care too much about awards, but I think Jane is really deserving of a nom.

I know we've discussed it on the Emmy thread, but I thought I'd post it here that I'm so glad that Jane got nominated for an Emmy! She totally deserves the nom, and I think she also deserves to win. Jenna is possibly my favorite character outside of Jack and Liz (who are really in a league of their own), although I'm torn between Jenna and Kenneth (though he also got a nom too, so I'm happy). I really hope Jane wins that Emmy, though!

Me too! She has been brilliant since season 1, so I'm so glad she's finally getting the recognition. I mean, there are other characters (like Kenneth) who are underrated, but one thing I've realized from rewatching season 1 is that he definitely didn't play a huge role in season 1. Jane has been incredible since the Pilot. I definitely hope she wins too!

I sure hope so! I'm not familiar with Weeds, Ugly Betty, or Pushing Daisies (the shows that some of the other actresses in her category are from), but I think Amy Poehler and Kristin Wiig from SNL could be real competitors. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Jane, though. I love Amy and Kristin, but I think Jane has them beat.

I didn't care for Pushing Daisies, or KC. It's not a bad show though. I actually like Weeds and Ugly Betty but I haven't really watched them in awhile. Vanessa Williams and Elizabeth Perkins are both good in their roles. I don't like SNL, even though I like the actresses who got nominated all right. But I agree with you. Jane really has outdone herself and deserves it.

Frankly I don't get how SNL actors and series actors can end up in one category, SNL is more standup for me...I think it will be either Amy or Jane.

Yeah, it's kind of weird. I definitely think they belong in different categories, but oh well. I hope it will either be Amy or Jane because I think either of them deserve it. I'd prefer Jane, but I would be (relatively) happy if Amy won it.

I couldn't understand how SNL actors end up in the acting category as well. I think they'd be more under variety performers.

I don't think they really have a category for variety performers. I know there's one for Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program, but it doesn't look like it's the kind of award that goes to an SNL performer. That was the category where Elaine Stritch won in 2004, for example, but the year after that, Hugh Jackman won for hosting the Tony Awards. Then the year after that, Barry Manilow won for some music special he must have done. So anyway, I guess they don't really have a category other than the comedy series one for people like SNL performers. They really should have a category for something like "Supporting Actor/Actress in a Variety, Comedy, or Music Series." The kind of work Amy Poehler and Kristin Wiig got nominated for is so different from the kind of work that Jane and the rest of the nominees got nominated for. It's a case of apples and oranges.
