My Fair Lady is my the most favorite musical ever. Saw it 26 times on stage

It has a beautiful story and the songs are amazing.

The opening post looks stunning.

I hate that they are remaking all this stuff, Footloose and now this. I'm all for the movie musical adaptation like I'm super excited to see Nine and Follies when it gets out of development hell but come on...

I think the reason they didn't cast Julie is because they said they were worried about how her looks would transfer to screen, which is ludicrous because Julie is lovely but also, coincidentally why Julie was in the Sound of Music film adaptation because she was prettier than the stage lead. Funny stuff.

That's just stupid. They'll probably make the same mistake with the remake by casting someone pretty who can't act. Of course it wasn't a mistake back then, because Audrey was amazing, but now, with all those pretty starlets who can't act their way out of a paper bag... I read Keira Knightley was being considered for the part. And I'm gonna stop writing right now

I don't mind Keira, I actually quite like her in most things but as Eliza, I think not. I think I remember reading once that even Audrey thought Julie should have had the part.

I think Julie would've been wonderful, but like the title says, I've grown accustomed to Audrey's face, so I wouldn't want her to be replaced

Did she sing any of the songs?

The dubbing was pretty damn good. I could've sworn it was Audrey singing "Just you wait," for example. I think that one is the song I find the hardest to believe it wasn't her singing
