Alarm you’ve been waiting on finally chimes in @ 5:05am in dilapidated hotel room. I’m UP. Know it’s pitch black out & at best I won’t be taking a shot for a few hrs. If that. Still excited for the unknown. Fuel up, drive the 25 min into the park listening to Joplin. Maybe some Sturgil. Knowing where her kill sits from days before I post up. 500yards away. Would get closer but I’m alone, no snow shoes and the 3 rivers I’d have to trudge through are keeping me at bay. As morning light crawls over the mountains you finally get a glimpse of her coming down for breakfast. From this far away I dream of closer shots but it’s still magical as I watch through the long lens with the doubler working overtime I get what I can. She leaves. I go drive looking for more action.Have lunch in truck, waiting. Write. Shoot some Buffalo. More Sturgil. Maybe Bingham. I come over a pass & see a Jeep 1/2 mile down road... hazards on. No one just stops for no reason out here in the middle of the road. I’m thinking more buffalo or moose but when I get to the Jeep n ask what he sees he emphatically points to her. The new Alpha. 80yards away. Stomach drops. I do my best to use the window sill as a base. Still shaking...****. I see her heading west and decide to get out and try & flank her. SPRINTING down road w tripod, mentally checklisting settings..I finally set up, angry at myself I had to take eyes off her, yet hopeful we’re on same page Pull focus into the area I THINK she’ll be at... only to never to see her again. Know this was crazy rare to get this close I get back in truck, defeated I didn’t get THE SHOT I wanted... but over time I look back beyond grateful for those few beats. I’ll be back one day soon enough in hopes for yet another... #📸🐺

I have no problem with him going in depth with a story like that when it a) actually happened, b) is about his photography, c) something he's really passionate about.

His new IG stories are cute..."so, thanks Mom." I see he's hedging his bets with "good news soon" about the new project and not promising "this week" he's learning...don't promise, things change.
