That sounds like it could be really good.

There was some uproar over the Avengers press over the weekend, apparently one of the actors treated a reporter very poorly, to the point the PR people in the room took the recording of the interview and promised it would never see the light of day. Of course most people thought it had to be Josh, that must just be the preconceived notion of him being a dick because of his past. But it turns out it was Anthony Mackie because the reporter denied it was Josh Brolin. Anyway, Josh and Josh did an interview and of course Taylor had to comment.

James Badge Dale always seems to be busy.

Did I ask this already...
have y’all seen Miss Meadows with Katie Holmes? James is in it. I caught it on Prime the other day. It came out in 2014.

I've never seen it, but James is officially the new actor that you realize you didn't know was in everything. I caught him in The Departed, which I had no clue he was in.

We know where Taylor will be this Friday or Thursday or whenever new movies come out now.

I have to fully investigate the Jimmy Badge Dale situation. Must go back and watch all his movies. Still working my way through Timmy Chalamet's and I still have one Charlie Hunnam one that I haven't seen. They never play it anywhere, Green Street.

I'm going Sunday to see Avengers.. not by choice.

I see he was in a few episodes of Rescue Me, which I used to watch. But otherwise I don't think anything he's been in I would have seen randomly. He has like five movies in post production right now. The perks of not being the lead, go in for three weeks and film a movie. That's one thing I always weight with Taylor, whether it would be more fun to watch him do more smaller rolls or see him as the lead in like one movie a year.

I've never seen any of the Avengers movies. James Cameron just came out and said that he hopes there is Avengers fatigue because he feels like they're ruining the industry, the sheer volume of superhero movies. I agree, but not coming from the man who wants like 4 sequels to Avatar, which I still haven't seen.

This explains where he was while I was in Austin...

I LOVED the first few seasons of Rescue Me.

You should watch Avatar. It's a good movie.

I saw it years ago with the title Green Street Hooligans, but only see it as Green Street now. It was FASCINATING! Before then I didn't know about the hooligan culture over there surrounding soccer! It's been so long but I think I really liked it, but found it intense. It must've been the first time I saw Charlie in anything (or at least the first time I put face and name together), and I thought he was scary but hot. Scary hot. lol You might like it.

I associate James Badge Dale mostly with Shame (starring Michael Fassbender). He's a real jerk in that one, though, and the movie is very raw and indie so it isn't for everyone. (I love it.) But I first put name and face together with his AMC series, Rubicon. I loved him in it, but I never finished the season. It might stream somewhere, but don't quote me. And I surely saw him on 24 before that but totally don't remember him!

I refuse to see Avatar, I saw maybe 10 minutes of it and wasn't impressed. But, again, not my type of movie at all so I wasn't surprised.

I always intended to see Shame and never did.

I think it's referred to as either Green Street or Green Street Hooligans. Scary hot. That's my type!!

I don't remember if I actually posted this or not, I think it probably got lost in the shuffle since it was around the time of Waco's release but more Only the Brave love and urging people to check the movie out on DVD:

Quote:
.'Only The Brave' Was One Of Last Year's Best Movies. Don't Make The Same Mistake Twice.

As I wrote at the end of last year, it was no surprise that this true-life film didn't break out for the same reason (relatively speaking) that Deepwater Horizon or Patriot's Day struggled. But this is a wonderful, richly character-driven and articulately detailed drama about the Granite Mountain Hotshots. Josh Brolin, Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly (in a rare "wife of the hero" role that's worth a damn) are terrific as the film goes about its redemptive business with little in the way of foreshadowing about how its story will end. Just as importantly, director Joseph Kosinski and writers Ken Nolan and Eric Warren Singer refuse to oversell spectacle for the sake of razzle-dazzle, and they also refuse to rely on macho stereotypes or speechifying about heroism and sacrifice. Only the Brave is a "show, don't tell" character drama of uncommon quality.

And the "exclusive" clip above highlights one of its best elements, namely Connelly's terrific performance in what otherwise could have been a stock "supportive wife" character. In a departure for this kind of movie, the screenplay makes her into a three-dimensional human being, someone with opinions, contradictions and someone whose words and deeds have an impact on the plot. Again, what makes the film stand out is the sheer quality of the writing and the time the picture allows to show these folks living, learning and changing before the proverbial end.

There was a slight uproar earlier this year when Lionsgate unloaded two Black Label Media releases from their 2017 schedule, only for those films to get picked up by Sony. One of them was Sicario 2: Soldado, which I’ve given no end of grief for essentially being a sequel to Emily Blunt’s grim “War on Drugs” thriller without Blunt. Like Snow White and the Huntsman, Sicario was a female-led genre film that was successful enough to spawn a sequel for the male co-star(s) with lead actress getting kicked to the curb. However, if Soldado is any good, I’ll be the first to say so despite my misgivings. Because the other Black Label Media release to go from Lionsgate to Sony is Only the Brave, which was one of last year’s best movies.

At the time, I noted that Lionsgate probably dumped Sicario 2 because they knew that an action thriller starring Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro sans Emily Blunt would struggle to stand out in the marketplace. And I noted that Only the Brave was seen as a risk since it was similar in content and intentions to the two disappointing Peter Berg true-life tragedies Deepwater Horizon and Patriots Day. Both Mark Wahlberg movies were relatively good, but both struggled as audiences either sought out feel-good true-life stories like Hidden Figures and Sully or escapism like La La Land and Rogue One. And, yeah, despite strong reviews and a paid national sneak preview meant to build word-of-mouth, Only the Brave earned just $23 million worldwide on a $38m budget.

Movies like Only the Brave are concurrently both the sort of thing we all complain Hollywood doesn’t make/release anymore and then more-or-less ignore when they do. That’s not necessarily a case of moviegoers being indifferent or “evil” in terms of choosing to spend their time/money. With more at-home entertainment options than ever before, much of it of equal/greater production value and with specifically adult sensibilities compared to the stereotypical Hollywood offering, movies like Only the Brave are the sort of movies that struggle and/or all-but require award seasons consideration to drum up any business. It’s that much harder to convince adults with jobs, kids, spouses and responsibilities to fork over money and time for a true-life where the entire reason for its existence is its well-known unhappy ending.

Only the Brave is now available on digital HD for around $15 via Amazon, Google Play and the like. It’ll be available on DVD and Blu-Ray on Feb. 6, after which it will be priced to rent for around $4-$6 on said VOD platforms. I can totally understand if you didn’t feel the need to spend movie ticket money on what turned out to be a rather depressing cinematic experience, even if the journey is filled with superb performances, authentic dialogue and an old-school humanity that used to be the industry’s bread-and-butter. But now it’s available to see from your couch on your HDTV. You can avoid making the same mistake twice. Don’t wait for Redbox or Netflix. This one is worth your money.

I love that Only the Brave has been so well received. I only wish it had more buzz when it was coming out and in theaters.
