I don't like this situation because she killed a random, seemingly undeserving guy.

Well it's either a joke, or a way to make people wonder if the bomb really did go off and reset time. Just to put an inkling in their minds. I mean at Comic-Con they said vets from season 1 were coming back, and then you see these videos? Makes you wonder what happened. That's what I think anyway.

it wasn't a joke as the funky chicken commercial, it was sort of way to say that no matter what happened with the bomb, Kate would be still a fugitive, she still murdered someone by mistake *in this scenario*...

Well the other ones aren't just jokes. Maybe it is saying that no matter what happened, Hurley will still win the lottery.
Maybe the things that led them to get on the plane would still happen, because it is fated.. they would just happen differently.
It doesn't change the fundamentals, Kate still killed someone & was on the run. No matter what, that happened.... it can't be erased. ?

I agree with that. Like even if the bomb DID reset time, all these things would have happened anyway (maybe differently, as in Kate killing the worker and not Wayne) because they were supposed to. Faraday's Whatever Happened, Happened scenario could be true, just these things happened in a different way.
