I'm voting for #5.

I love the Alex/Gene dynamic. I don't know if I can call myself a real shipper because I was fine with the writers keeping them in the "platonic"/will-they-won't-they phase until the finale, but I never doubted how strongly they felt about each other and their connection.
That said, I did have an hardcore shipper moment when Jim interrupted their supposed-to-be-first kiss. I was surprised at how much pissed that got me.

I was mad at Jim... and angry at the writers because, come on, a knock on the door?! These two are about to kiss for the first time after 3 years and you throw at me that cliché?

Although, looking at the series as a whole, it made sense that they were left in such an ambiguous status until the last few minutes.
