But the original IS J-horror (or, more aptly, T-horror)--and I think had they added a few scenes that were apparently dropped from the original that's what it would have truly been. As is, it has the feel of those movies, if not the scare factor.

Far less frightening than "The Grudge," Mandy, so I wouldn't think you'd have a problem.

That's true. But from what I've been hearing, people were thinking it was going to be a lot more horrific (like the original) and were non-surprised when it wasn't because of it being Americanized. But then again, that's a plus for me.

I think I need to describe the situation so you understand what he said :-) I'm guessing the Japanese man is a specialist with communicating with spirits (and in Japan, such people do exist). When the man stands up and turns around with the photo in his hand, he allowed the "ghost" to communicate through him. So essentially it was the ghost who used the Japanese man to say: "I can't do anything for you guys [refering to Ben and Jane]. Why did you leave me? How could you leave me?" I think that got Josh's character uncomfortable, and caused him to leave.

Translation of the Japanese when Josh was on E Daily 10:

Josh spoke in broken Japanese (he left some words out) but I think this was what he was trying to say:

"Hello everyone, I'm Josh Jackson and this is Rachel."
