I have to be honest, when watching the show I never thought anything was wrong with the story line of Walter not remembering Astrid's name and actually thought is was cute and funny. Perhaps it's because of what was actually happening behind the scenes that makes it seems racist. I truly don't know, there is so much to learn about these types of situations. I do commend Josh for trying to change the situation though.

The actress also noted that certain directors on the show refused to get her real-life name right, getting support from co-star Joshua Jackson. One insisted on referring to me as “you”, “that one” and pointing at me to give me a direction. Another one simply refused to attempt to say my name correctly and called me everything he could think of but ‘Jasika’. It was so bad that josh found a name tag, wrote the phonetic spelling of my name on it, and put it on his shirt, knowing the director would pay attention to HIM, might show me some respect that way. josh was trying to use his power/clout for good. Still didn’t work tho

I too never thought of these comments as racist, but as a character Astrid was my favourite female on the series and feel very sad that she was subjected to such discrimination. I wonder if Lance had any problems with producers and directors?

I'd forgotten Chadwick Boseman had been on Fringe. He did a great job as Cameron James.

Me too, Hubby suggested that we do another Fringe re-watch this Fall, so we will likely start soon. He had wanted to watch some on Sunday, but I wanted to enjoy the nice weather and spent the afternoon on the deck.
