The worst was when I went to a weekend convention for Stargate SG1. It was a very expensive weekend - but SO worth it!

Between getting "Gold" tickets, spending two nights in the hotel and one really awesome auction win, it was over $1000.

One of the things that made it so awesome is that it was the first (and only) time they held a convention in Arlington. It was literally less than a mile from my home, but I stayed in the hotel anyway. The con didn't sell well, so there were only about 200 attendees and only about 30 had the Gold passes. So me and 30 people had breakfast with the cast - meaning we all had lots of time to chat with them. Same thing with the Saturday night disco event.

And the auction item that I won is an 8 foot x 8 foot vinyl poster of Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson) which he autographed. It hangs on a wall in my guest room. ;)

That doesn’t actually sound too bad for whats all involved

Considering I didn't have to travel anywhere, it wasn't to bad, really. And I had a blast. It was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience, especially since the low turnout made it very intimate.

I really need to take a trip somewhere
