One of the things that impresses me most about Fringe is that they were able to have this romance between two principle characters - which started pretty early in the show - but they never got goofy or silly, and the love story between them never sidelined the main focus of the show - the investigation of Fringe events and all that.

The love story was an integral part of the show - and there was a lot of drama with it and a lot of sweetness - but it never detracted from the quality of the show. It never seemed like a soap opera.

It was written so good, never got dull or too cliched

The writing was excellent. We got just enough of Polivia to keep interest in that aspect of the story, without getting maudlin or soap-opera-like.

That is such a good point and I think I might have even said as much in another Thread somewhere. The show was perfect in every aspect of it and I'd be hard pressed to find something that I would change.

As short and infrequent as the Polivia moments were, they were masterfully crafted to show us the state of the relationship and the depth of their feelings. Things like the house-hunting in bed moment; the "I'm pregnant" moment and Peter's reaction; the moments after Etta's death when first Peter comforted Olivia, and then Olivia comforted Peter. So many beautiful, powerful and emotional Polivia moments.
