I don't think she'll ever be anything less than my favourite but it's all so superficial at the moment. It's like they've reviewed the tapes of previous seasons and decided what Naomi needed was another bad boy to reform, because deep down they care It's like Ozzie, Liam and Oscar all rolled into one, like Naomi has pretty boy syndrome and can't function unless they have a six pack.

This speaks volumes but I'd be quite happy if Annie and Austin suddenly developed an attraction that took him far, far away from Naomi

We already know that MN had everything that you could want in an adorable couple, the writers just needed to carry on with that level of awesome and they couldn't even do that. What does that say about them?

And Annie/Dixon is a must have, especially because they're the only family they've got in L.A. And Shenae and Tristan have good chemistry, so their scenes are always cute.

I think all one really needs to do is review the first four episodes to get the basics on writing Naomi.

Those were what made her my favourite character back then, and critics noticed right away that she was the most layered.

The problem is that ever since then, she's been mostly about comedy, with a bit of drama mixed in -- when it should be the other way around.

I don't think she should be all about drama (I liked the "I love you just as much as you love me" speech), but it's no coincidence that the most interesting Naomi episodes are mostly dramatic.

TBH season 3 was the first season I could tolerate Naomi, all the credit goes to Max. She actually had a personality ... in season 4 she was back to being the diva..until that beach scene anyway Very well done, and then things went down hill from there. I'll never understand why writers feel the need to mess with perfect couples.. especially ones who draw in the viewers--Max and Naomi were something special. It wouldn't have been hard for the new writers to add Max to the mix... all the had to do was have Naomi tell Austin to take a hike, and actually mean it-have Max be his usual charming, confident self-and have him bond with the rest of the guy cast.

I am really hoping we haven't seen the last of Max. BTW I dont' know if you guys noticed Max in his boxers in Mexico--but he didn't look bad, he's pretty built for a "nerd". Can someone tell me again why Naomi is chasing Austin?

Yeah at least in S1 she had her parental issues, S2 she had the Jen stuff and in S3 it was the rape stuff. There always seemed to be at least something deeper going on in the background.

^ Exactly Chas - and now it's all 'got a problem? have a party!' She can't have that much money, surely. They have Naomi buy her problems away instead of working for things, atm.

They just don't want her to do anything outside of her love interest. I think they assume that her character popularity alone can carry this storyline but they're forgetting that what made her as popular was the fact that she never had storylines centralling on boys. She had her love interests but her friendships/othre storylines played a huge part.

Come to think of it, are we even expecting Naomi's new sorority friends to show up after all that work she did to win them over?

And, to sound like a broken record, why isn't she studying? Same with Annie.

finally some progression on the raj storyline! they were holding out on that for way too long.

the austin/naomi thing annoys me and i remember why i hated it the first time around, its just forced. i am glad max broke up with her though because i was over that triangle the second it started.

and i like the annie/escort storyline this time around, its interesting. i kind of like patrick okay too. he's not that cute but he's nice (at first) and i think its different. but patrick saying she makes him feel alive is a bit pathetic. and wow that happened really really fast. she wants to be with him? what?

since when can naomi play piano?

i was happy to see jlowndes sing again but she should have sang a more upbeat song at the party thing right? lol
