It's true, people do hold Nate up to unrealistically high standards. I hate how they made him forgive Chuck in the finale, and then made him all crabby about it for the rest of season 2. Nate's the prop in this friendship to make Chuck look like the one who's being crapped on all the time. It's not that I hate Chuck's character, but is that really necessary?!

The prom king with no friends. Wow, that makes so much sense.

Amen. That's my biggest issue. They never show Nate's side or their REAL friendship.

Like, 2x13. NATE WAS THERE! YAY! 2x14! He was..randomly at the will. And then he never seen from again. And 2x15 he was ... with Vanessa.. Which, they didn't even DO anything with NV and their anniversary, so why couldn't they have Nate help B with the plan for his best friend.

They don't understand how to utilize Nate properly and he's just a plot device.

I wish they had gone differently with Nate-the-homeless storyline. Because that didn't work in Nate's favor. Him not going to Chuck. They should have at least SHOWN why Nate didn't. There could have been a REAL plot to this (not just a JN set up).

Funny you should mention that Jackie because it's exactly what I wondered last season. When I heard about Bart dying, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for the writers to give us more NC time and actually fix them. I honestly thought that Nate would be there for Chuck and help him get through the hard time of dealing with his father's death.

But NOOOOOOOOOOOO! The writers dropped the ball on that one. Instead Nate did a Houdini act and did absolutely nothing. I'm sure it was great for CB'ers that Blair was there for Chuck and blah, blah, blah, but where was his best friend? It's annoying that Chuck was there for Nate in episode 11 when the Captain turned himself in, but where the hell was Nate for Chuck?

Do you see what I mean?! The writers make this relationship so unbalanced that it's sickening to watch. They had no viable reason for Nate to abandon his supposed best friend in his time of need. None.

Think the writers got the hint? They don't have to completely abolish their friendship, but they just NEED to take time away from each other.

Supposedly, that's what Ed said in that interview but who knows at this point. NC living together would be ridiculous either way.
