The Story
As a young man, Jacob Jankowski was tossed by fate onto a rickety train that was home to the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth. It was the early part of the great Depression, and for Jacob, now ninety, the circus world he remembers was both his salvation and a living hell. A veterinary student just shy of a degree, he was put in charge of caring for the circus menagerie. It was there that he met Marlena, the beautiful equestrian star married to August, the charismatic but twisted animal trainer. And he met Rosie, an untrainable elephant who was the great gray hope for this third-rate traveling show. The bond that grew among this unlikely trio was one of love and trust, and, ultimately, it was their only hope for survival.

I was the same way Ash! haha I couldn't put it down but didn't want it to end so I just devoured that book in like 3 days. Oh here's my reply to what you posted in the last thread

I thought the same thing girly!! I was like oh hell no this isn't not just some made up story in his head! Then I thought back to the begining with the prologue and how he'd spoken of his life before the nursing home and thought no this is real. I thought it was foreshadowing too trust me haha Just keep reading

He was SO adorable the morning after feeling all guilty. That was just so precious I LOVED that about him. Such a sweetie. I truly think Rob will do him justice with everything.

How much do you hate August and Uncle Al? August is such a mental monkey and Uncle Al is just a money hungry jackass

Oh ok, I'll just keep reading . I read their love scene though, it was so sweet and tasteful. Bet it would be hot in the movie though..

I hate them quite a lot! Well August more than Uncle Al. Al is just who he is, but August is where the real crap comes from. The abuse of Rosie really gets to me... Oh Jacob, he won't forgive himself for that, huh?

Yes totally keep reading! I loved their love scene it was VERY sweet and tasteful and yes I think they'll make it hot in the movie hehe

I hate August for what he does to the animals especially Rosie I knew the animal abuse was going to make me uneasy but the story is SO worth reading. and yeah Jacob won't forgive himself cause he wants to protect his animals and August is just beating the hell out of one of them just cause Uncle Al is frustrated.

So what chapter are you on right now? Don't wanna spoil ya by saying something you haven't read yet haha

Yes, the animal abuse does upset me. I like that Gruen doesn't describe it though, it would make the movie more gruesome then it should be. I love all the bits when Jacob mentions Bobo though, so cute. How he let Bobo cuddle him and carried him around, and then when he finally let go he kissed him on the cheek. SO cute! I want to see that in the movie!

AH so you are almost done! It's so frigging good you just burn through the chaps. I know I was even more excited for this movie after I was done. Seriosuly can't wait to see Rob/Reese as a couple in this movie!

The animal abuse is something I know is going to upset me way more in the movie cause it'll be visual. I'm grateful she wasn't detailed in it either. I LOVE him with Bobo It's the cutest thing how he lets him cuddle with him while he checks on the other animals it's so adorable. I can't wait to see that in the movie too!

How SAD was it when you found out Camel and Walter were Red-Lighted? Jacob would've been too if he hadn't been on a mission to kill August.

Oh I'm sorry! We'll try and talk about some other stuff, how I want this movie right frickin now that I've finished the book! I've gotten quite attached to Jacob's character so good luck to Rob doing him justice!

Oh god it was SO sad. And it was even more heart breaking that Jacob was tring to console himself has he did it...tragic. But thank god for the circus shutting down after the stampede. I just finished the book. I love how Jacob took Rosie and Marlena took the horses . They are perfect for each other .

I really can't wait to see the movie now. The book was just, beautiful. Christoph and Rob will definitely own this movie.

Were you shocked by the Rosie thing? I was haha The whole time with the way the prologue is set up you think it's Marlena that kills August not Rosie but it was fitting she was the one to do it.

I seriosuly LOVED that they both saved their animals that was beyond adorable and I agree just showed how perfect they are for one another.

Another sweet part I loved towards the end was when Jacob said he was so happy to see tha red hair on their baby not that he ever doubted Marlena but he was just so glad to see that red hair so precious. Seriosuly loved Jacob

TFTNT Ahhhh, I can't wait for this movie. I think all three main's will do a wonderful job at bringing their characters to life I am also wayyyy excited to see Jacob/Tai's relationship
