I believe one of the draws for Jacob regarding Marlena was her love for her horses. Her connection with Silver was so special. It broke my heart when Jacob had to put him down. She was smart enough to know that August was lying to her when he told her Silver would be fine. She knew him all too well. I felt sorry for her that she escaped one bad situation by getting into another by marrying August. Jacob watched her always surreptitiously…but he felt something for her almost immediately. I could see how uncomfortable it made him feel when he was in the presence of the two of them together. How uncomfortable it was for Jacob to have to sit there and watch August affectionately caress or kiss Marlena. Marlena knew how to handle August, of course being married to him she had seen his true colors early on. His treatment of animals was pure cruelty. I know Jacob couldn’t grasp why Marlena stayed with him when he had told her on several occasions that there was a better life out there, regardless of whether she loved Jacob or not. He wanted her to be safe and live a peaceful life without all this drama. She of course felt she owed August for saving her from her past life and teaching her everything she knew about the circus life. However what he did he did in order to further his career and that of Benzini. He was that type of man; he always had a hidden agenda. Jacob did give Marlena the courage to finally break away and flee with Jacob even if it was short lived. They both gave into their feelings for each other. The morning after which should have had these two lovers basking in the afterglow turned ugly quickly. Marlena was taken away and Jacob having the beating of his life. How Jacob was able to get up and head after Marlena was pure adrenalin along with fear of what August was going to do to her.

In the end justice was served. Rosie took care of August who nearly killed Marlena. With his death Jacob and Marlena were free to be together and shared a long and happy marriage. Jacob was saved by not only the circus but by Marlena. He was left alone in the world after losing his parents. Marlena too was saved by Jacob. Until she met him she didn’t truly understand what real love was between a man and woman. A man who respected and cared for your well-being and happiness.

The ending after the film ended where we see the family movie reel was so very touching. One of my favorite scenes is the one that Jo graciously posted below. The birth of their first son, Jacob and Marlena looking down on him so adoringly and Jacob kisses her forehead….:love:

I want to buy it, Im just not in search for it now. If I find it Ill do it, or Ill rent it one of these days :D I love Rob and Reese I dont know how I havent seen it yet!
