^ Yup and letting him die off the way he did... it was very different at that time and such a powerful storytelling about safe sex.

Well, I watched recently the episode where Edmond in ''All My Children'' died & that was sad. I thought that he might have lived, but nope. I don't know if it's the ''saddest soap death'' as I haven't seen as many some some of you have, but it's certainly a notable 1.

OMG, Edmund's death was awful. I stopped watching AMC at that time but I heard what was happening and hearing he was going to die so I tuned in for it. Edmund was the first of many to be ruined and thrown under the bus for overrated Zach. Apparently Maria kept running off with Zach and cheating on Edmund SMH, and he wanted to destroy both of them for it. Still on Edmund's side if Maria was always cheating on Edmund, also didn't help he was in a wheelchair during all of this too. It also sounds like JC and ELR were getting a divorce in real life, which didn't help how they were writing Edmund and Maria. Despite the bias for Zach, Edmund was one of the best characters on AMC (along with his pairing with Maria) They shouldn't of screwed him over like this near the end of his run.

I liked Edmund with Brooke prior to Tad returning. That was probably Edmund's most interesting time as a character, as he had a bit more personality then and wasn't so broody. BUT once Tad returned, Brooke was really wishy washy about the whole thing, insisting she stay with Tad for Jamie's sake, as Edmund continued to poor his heart out to her. At that point I could see why Edmund and Maria would've been more appealing.

It did seem like a flip though they way they wrote it, cause up until Edmund and Maria's first wedding, it was like they wrote it with him settling for Maria and still loving Brooke. He basically begged Brooke to come back to him the Christmas of 1993 despite being engaged to Maria. Then they switched it after they were married and kept Edmund and Maria together.
