That's so sad for him to go suddendly like that. I will always think of him as Hal, not actor could ever replace him. I wonder what the writers are going to do, I think they should keep Hal the character on the show. He is an important part.

Hal will not be recast that much I know apparently he'll be killed off as to how I don't know.

It is just so devastating. He will always be the Hal to me.

I hope if they do choose to kill Hal off, they say that he died in his sleep or something that would not cause the character pain.

What!?!?!?!

That's just... It just can't be. I mean, I know it is, but it just can't be.

I think they have to recast Hal, not to that anyone could ever be Hal quite the way Mr. Hendrickson will always be, but he's in the middle of a huge storyline right now (what with Jennifer's illness and Emily's trial, not to mention Will's stuff). Even if they do choose to kill him off, you have to have him on the screen at least a bit to do it properly...

For 21 years, Hendrickson, a bachelor, played tough-but-gentle police chief Hal Munson. Recently, he had been filming scenes in which his TV daughter was dying, the Post reports.

"He was a marvelous and gifted man," longtime costar Ellen Dolan, who plays detective sidekick Margo Hughes, tells the paper. "I just know him to be a wonderful man with a big heart – we are all part of a tight family here. I am just heartbroken."

Hendrickson's final appearance on the CBS soap will air July 12.

Wow im so shocked. I cant believe this. Either can my mom. We both love him as Hal and he really will be missed. I just cant believe it.

I was quite shocked when I heard about this. It's such a sad loss, to daytime, to his fans, and to the medium in general. Hopefully he's finally found some peace.

wow. that is truely awful.. he was an amazing actor, and no one could ever replace him as Hal.
