Everyone keeps talking about how G3 is going to be ~light-hearted~ and somehow that automatically makes it a 'better' Gen than G2. Which confuses me, tbh. Yes, the ending of S4 was blah, but the ~serious first half of S4 was really good. I wouldn't be all, Oh, it sucked because it was serious but had it just been the gang loling and having a good time, that would have been quality television.

Also? JB doesn't do lighthearted. I don't think he's ever NOT written an episode that was incredibly heavy-handed.

IA Twist, I thought ep 1-4 and 8 were really good and ep 4 and 8 had light moments all the way through them. As did ep 6, which was all light. Ep 5 and 7 are the episodes that ruined the reputation of S4

People were liking it till then, it was getting critically acclaimed, and boom come ep 5 and it's suddenly too dark and people hated it. Thanks Effy

I don't think Gen 3 can be as good as Gen 2 or 1, they haven't gotten the talented writers of those series. There's only 2 writers in Gen 3 I really consider good, then JB is writing 2 which will be OTT or something. Still watching though

and hope I like it.

Totally agreed. And JB is writing Rich's episode which I'm sure will be a borefest. Idec about the overdone plot and yeah, zero interest in a character based of JB.
