Effy and Katie started off in the third series of Skins as tentative friends. Katie saw similarities between herself and Effy and strongly pursued a friendship, but Effy was too caught up with the drama going on with herself and Cook and Freddie. Katie became jealous of Effy, even dating Freddie for a while to try and spite her. Katie and Effy thus ended up becoming rivals, culminating in a fight that ended up with both of them hurt. Eventually though, they reconciled their relationship; Katie saw that Effy's mental health was deteriorating and Effy helped Katie regain her faltering self-confidence. Katie was there for Effy when she began to unravel completely, pulling Effy from the crowd and into her arms, shielding her from harm and comforting her as well. The two ended the fourth series as friends once more.

Effy always sees through Katie, understanding that she puts on a tough front, but she was really sweet and insecure underneath it all. Likewise, it's always Katie who sees the true Effy. When Effy was hurting, Katie was the one who picked up on it, always offering to help or attempting to cheer her up. The two have always shared an understanding; they are the only ones that truly know each other. When they're together, they drop all pretenses; when they're together, they can just be themselves. Katie accepts Effy for who she is and Effy accepts Katie for who she is.

first m om e n t
Katie and Effy meet in the hall outside of their college class;
Katie's been waiting for Effy to arrive. She's recognized Effy
as Tony's younger sister and she wants to be friends. Effy
isn't quite so keen on a friendship, but Katie tells her that
they're the best looking in college, and obviously the HBICs.

katie k no w s
Down by the pier, Katie meets Effy and Pandora, heading off
to Pandora's pyjama party. Effy's still hurt and reeling from
her parents fighting over her mum's infidelity. Katie picks up
on it and asks Effy if she's okay. It's the first time we see that
Katie actually cares about Effy.

effy's d i s c o v e r y
Effy goes to visit Freddie at his shed ... And walks right in on
Katie and Freddie kissing. She's clearly hurt by this, but Katie
jumps on the opportunity to ask Effy for a favour. Effy
reluctantly agrees. It's a low, sad moment for both of them.

playful r i v a l s
Effy shows up at the place where Katie's WAG friend is having
her hen night. She asks Katie to sit with her, but Katie turns
her down. She tells Effy she can still see through her. Effy asks
her if Katie's ever going to let her smile falter; Katie says only
when Effy does. The two smile; they've started to reconcile.

effy k n o w s
In a sweet contrast from the last time Katie and Effy met at
the piers, here Effy comforts Katie, who's lost almost all of her
self-confidence. She teaches Katie how to smoke and the two
bond. They've finally become real, true friends.

effy's a n g e l
As Effy begins to unravel, Freddie does everything he can to
take care of her. But when he loses Effy in the carnival crowd,
Effy recognizes Katie on a float and immediately goes to her.
Katie wraps her arms around Effy, protecting her. As Freddie
leads them both away, Katie stays close to Effy, comforting her.

perfect marriage, perfect everything.

k: me. i don't know who i am any more.
e: i thought you were katie fcking fitch.

Effy will probably always be interesting and attractive, for lack of a better word to Katie b/c she'll never give it all away. So there will always be something to discover for Katie, maybe even something to fix, something to take care of. And for Effy, Katie sort of gives it all away, and what she doesn't, Effy can still see, which Effy probably likes b/c she knows the "real" KFF. They'll never be bored w/ each other.

I'd love a random moment where Katie does something so unexpected that Effy just beams. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, just something (ridic as this sounds) like Katie buying a cuddly toy to keep Pato company.

Yeah I can see Katie making some joke at first, as she gives it to her, just to protect herself in case Effy thinks it's lame.
